33's looks awesome, but some hills I encounter semi-regularly require 3rd gear with 265/75r16. I would need forced induction or a 4.30 rear end to make the jump myself. I imagine in a more flat area 33's would be fine.

My 4.88 gears are really nice with my 285s. I love my truck.

No. I just got one of those little digital plug-in speedos from Amazon. I may do the Hypertech calibrator one day...who knows.

I don't really notice too much with my 265 KM2s. I don't have anything to compare to though either. It does fine for me.

It is flat around SC though.

Yeah with a flat bed and 265 75 16 in the mountains around prescott az and steamboat Co, the 4 cylinder just couldn't cope. Moved back to Texas, 200 ft elevation and relatively flat, all is well again.

Stuff and things that make it better.
Yep, 33's and 4.88's with a slush box in a reg cab is the bees knees. 80 on the freeway is no problem.

I am running 35s and 4.88s and she rips! I can do 75-80 on the highway no problem in 5th...its trying to go the speed limit is where I find my self down shifting. I think it is because The motor is not making enough power to maintain 65 on an incline in 5th gear...Up above 3 grand plus is where I find the motor to be able to really pull so 4th gear puts the motor back into the power band for hill climbs at 65ish.

I'm mostly talking about steady up Hills sometimes a mile or so here in the north east we don't have too many mountain passes...I drive up through NH a couple times a winter and going through Franconia notch is the only time I have ever danced down to third gear but again the speed limit through there I think is 55 and you can't maintain much more speed than that because it is so steep and winding through the mountains. I could definitely see doing to 3rd gear more often out west if you were driving some of those big passes. I had a v6 5spd 4runner when I moved cross country and I remember mashing the pedal in third gear to maintain the speed limit on some passes...but unless you are living at extreme elevations and driving big passes all the time I really don't think it's a huge issue

I think you would probably be pretty happy with that combo...I think if you do the math out the 4.56 and 33 combo gets you pretty close to stock ratio with the bigger tires (not really sure so don't quote me) i remember something like that when I was looking into my regearing. It all depends on how you are driving if you spend a lot of time on the high way in an empty truck you can run 4.10s and 33s no problem. If your truck is always hauling tools and gear and bumpers and weight or towing trailers the lower the better. I regeared over the winter so I have not had the truck fully weighed down for camping and wheeling but so far the truck rips

I don't but it is on my list! I am currently running a CAI though...I know there is all kinds of controversy around whether or not they work and are good for your truck but honestly removing the restrictions of the stock intake does Make a noticeable difference in power! It also sounds incredible when you are stepping on the gas above 3k. That being said I will be going back to the stock air box but keeping the intake tubing to keep the air flow open

Wait what? Is this possible? I took my resonator off the top of engine and lost all low end grunt, I put it back on after a week.

Is there a sway bar in the rear? I think x-runner had them?

Here is my Reg cab. 2003, 2.7, 4wd, 2" receiver hitch, 90,800 miles on it!! I was able to pick it up for $3,000 this past fall. Have already replaced the rear bumper, new Pioneer Radio (stock one did not work), Tacoma windshield decal, Bilstein 5100s front and rear (still need to install them). Going to get the Relentless Fab front winch bumper for it, to replace the stock front original bumper. Going to get some new BF Goodrich KM3s for it also when they come out. Loving this truck so far!! Great truck!!

I just took care of some rust above the rear wheel wells, that is why the paint does not match back there. Supposedly they mixed the paint up to match the truck color, but it does not match exactly. Could be because the Original paint is faded.
