I’ve read on TW 2nd Gen, maybe others, front gears are “reverse cut” and shouldn’t PULL from the front- something about excessive pressure on teeth and very easy to chip/destroy. Maybe someone else can comment more on this, just thought is worth bringing up

This has some truth. Forward and reverse gears a cut different. Forward gears are cut in a helical pattern, which operate way more quiet and are stronger than straight cut, but also cost about 3x the cost to machine. So manufacturers use straight cut reverse gear to get around unnecessary costs. Also a thrid ger is required to reverse the direction, so the extra gear also makes a little more noise. For extreme pulling, I would say forward is stronger than reverse.

I have a question for everyone else, have y'all ever heard yalls fan kick in and start pulling air? I have never once heard my fan actually engage and start working. NEVER. But it's never overheated either, although the temps do go up when stopped. I think I am gonna take the fan clutch and boil it, see if it locks up. My ac shuts off when not moving.

Also, helical cut gears are stronger, bc of a larger area of teeth contact, however, helical cut gears do produce lateral forces, not preset in straight cut gears, thus, engineers must compensate for these forces w/ thrust bearings/bushings along the shaft(s).

I've pulled some pretty heavy shit back when I had my truck. A lot of 4lo pulling in reverse, truck was always fine after.
