Got a lot of stuff lol
What happened to the one you rebuilt? I would suggest looking at the wiring diagrams for the ecu to see the differences. It may just be the same vvti stuff and they just activate it twice or it uses a different valve that has 2 options. I'll have a 07 2trfe for sale soon after I finish rebuilding this

Went ahead and ordered a slightly higher mileage engine that will for sure fit. I was holding out to install it myself but with me rolling the land cruiser and some family problems, we can’t risk having a vehicle down. It’s a bummer but I am glad to finally get this done.

Ok, I'd like to see if any of yall can point me in the right direction with a problem that I'm having with my truck.
My truck: 2014 Reg Cab 4x4
    3" lift
    progressive add-a-leaf in rear
    285/70-17s
    4.88 gears

It is hard to put into words the sound that I'm hearing, but when I'm going 55mph, and above, and take my foot off the gas, I'm hearing a kind of whizzing sound, like zzzzzzzzzzzz.
Any idea what this may be?? It only recently started and no changes have been made to the truck in a couple of years.
    Any help appreciated.

    Manual or auto?

Just a guess that it might be the drive shaft to diff connection is wearing out. Not sure if adjustments were made to re-align though.

It's an auto transmission. Truck has 42k miles. I installed a 3 degree shim on the spring perches when I did the lift.

i have the exact same truck as yours except mine is manual. ive had that same sound and i seen on another thread that its got something to do with the drive shaft since it has been lifted.according to the thread the solution was to flip the drive shaft around.

I have the same truck, lift, and noise. I have also been told due to issues with the stock driveshaft angle after lift. I've seen some threads that talk about flipping the drive shaft around but haven't looked into. I'll most likely just get a custom driveshaft in the future.

well, he has the 3degree shims in there at the rear leafs to help with the diff angle so that should help.

Maybe the carrier bearing is having an issue then. I hear some fix vibration issues by dropping the carrier bearing a little as well.

All lifted regular cab Tacomas seem to make that noise, mine is no exception. The only real solution is to install a driveshaft spacer, I have a 1/2" spacer installed, and the noise stopped. I think it has something to due with the slip joint not having enough engagement.

Can you add OEM fender flares to the 07' base model bumper?

Thanks fellas. I'll look into the spacer. Once someone mentioned the drive shaft, I remembered reading about it causing this noise. Thanks again.

Is a 1/2" driveshaft spacer enough? Doesn't seem like very much. Also, does anyone have the part# for the spacer from 4crawler? That website is confusing.

Edit: Now I see that 4crawler spacers start at 3/4" and got to 1.5".

No, you would need a 4WD bumper, as is has holes to accept the fender flare extensions. You would also need 4WD front fenders/bed sides to put on factory fender flare, since they also have holes to mount the flares
I bought a 1.5" spacer, and it was way too big/thick. I cut it down to around 1/2" (mines closer to .40" thick, but 1/2" would be perfect).

    Yep.
    I'd go with the 3/4, or a 1" if lifted 2.5"+.

@Blais03 put one in (build link) a while back. Maybe he can give some input.

Put a power trays panel in and started getting wires off the battery. last wire to get replaced is the red one, being moved to the SMD Fuse holder for my amp and new wire ran into the cab. Got everything on Amazon. I used sky high ofc wire and the terminals to match. 2 4 post terminals one for power distribution and the other under the power trays as a relay holder, and a 12 post fused distribution panel for small gauge wires like lights. Clean wiring makes me happy. Get the iwiss cutters and crimpers, it cuts 1/0 like a dream and the crimpers take away the headache that is soldering large gauge wiresScreenshot_20200119-140017_Chrome.jpg
