Yes, I really like those Rigid boxes. We’ve got a company truck, here at work, that we load with all manner of heavy lab equipment and we just use a tractor and its pallet forks to set the box inside to load, then back into the truck — easy peasy. We did have one stolen once, but it wasn’t bolted down.

Hey y'all does anyone know if a trailer hitch off of a 3rd gen 4runner will fit on a '14 taco? Thanks in advance, saw one at the pick a part the other day.

Nice truck, although from that angle it resembles an Access Cab...

The GF and I recently adopted a ~62lb rohdesian ridgeback lab mix. He hasn't ridden in the truck yet but I'm curious on how everyone handles bigger dogs with the regular cab (manual also).

I'm think the GF might have to sit in the middle and he sits on the passenger seat? Otherwise he'll have to get tethered in the bed and I'll need to think about a shell/softtopper?

    Yep.
For us, the dogs are the only reason there's a topper on the truck. There's no room with buckets, with a bench it may be more feasible. For now they get tethered in with their harness's, but we would like to get a couple of the nice Gunner Kennels (crash rated) for them.... $700 for the large though

I've had my golden in the middle while the gf is in the passenger seat, we had to stop and put the pup in the bed (with a softopper, sides rolled up and dog tethered near the cab) after about a mile. It was not a fun experience with the dog up front... the softopper is okay around town but I wouldn't keep the dog back there on the highway. A hard top might be better if you travel with your dog a lot.

I did a bucket seat swap in my truck and never put in a center console, leaves a great spot for my pup to lay down. We are thinking of getting another one and at that point I'd be getting kennels to strap down. Have a topper too so it would be nicely protected for them back there

Any pics? I had a house mate that had a Rhodesian Ridgeback, thought was a beautiful dog and hadn't seen one before then.

These are probably his best pictures so far. He's a 5? year old stray from Tijuana (only been in the US since 07/28) and he is still pretty beat up from living that lifestyle.

When I first bought the Tacoma I knew I would get a dog but I figured it would be a smaller one like a cattle dog or a pocket pit/small pit mix which would fit on the bench with my GF and I...Not so sure with this guy.

I have a 65-70lb lab and I'd never try to put him in the front with a passenger. Even my little 35lb russell mutt would have a hard time in that tiny center seat.

Idk why it's even there. A passenger would have to straddle the center, and what driver wants another leg by their skinny pedal?

Softopper is fine for all speeds and conditions. Mine hasn't been sealed in years and I only get a dribble in the corners, which goes straight under the bed mat and causes zero issues, even sleeping back there in the rain. Much cheaper than a shell too.

For safety sake, some sort of kennel strapped under the softopper would be good.

    Great looking dog & truck.

I've tried to ride with two people and one of my dogs (60lb/30lb) and neither is fun especially with a manual. I'm also pretty picky about keeping the interior clean and dogs don't really help that much. Anyway, best option is really putting the pups in the back but I really don't like keeping them in the open bed. I think the cheapest option is well tied down wire crate and easy to remove but I'd probably go with a a soft topper and call it a day just my 2c.

Toyota should have seriously ditched the bench seat in the 4x4 single cabs. While I never absolutely hated the bench seat from a practicality standpoint, there is ZERO place to hide anything, unless it's behind or under the seat, or weirdly shoving some stuff under the middle part of the seat. The middle seat simply doesn't work because of the hump in the floor. Besides, god only knows how the 3rd passenger will fair in an accident. Not to mention, the bench seat has zero support. The center console sucked too while I'm ranting, the drink either would tip out of the cup holder or rattle around. Glad I ditched my bench, it's a shame more trucks didn't come this way from the factory.

I think the lift you're looking at would be fine for what you plan to do. I would however spring for the Icon springs at least. I had a single aal once and it broke so I have always felt the single aal spring is not worth springing for. :D
