I member seeing that. They wanted stupid money for that. No 4x4 kinda killed it for me. Id imagine if anyone could get the panels they could do it themselves.

Add the 4L to the list and I’m in haha. As much as I love the 2.7L some extra cylinders would be nice sometimes.

Well guys my rear bilsteins came in! Hopefully picking up some used OEM 4 leaf packs (with factory numbers still visible) to replace my rusty sagged 3 leafs. Can’t argue with $160 asking price for the pair. Can’t be any worse than what I have I would think? Any thoughts on that? Also, any tips for installing everything? Never done it before

I’m gonna try to talk him down a bit but an add a leaf is a more temporary fix, right? I figured starting with a better base would be the “right” way to do it. Eventual plan is front bilsteins at 0.85 or 1.75 and potentially either a 1” block or single 1.5 AAL in the rear. I didn’t plan on a 3 leaf AAL because they don’t add any hauling capacity from what I’ve heard...Thoughts on that?

Honestly I don’t haul a whole lot. Few hundred pounds max. 99% of the time the bed is empty save for my toolbox. Just mostly looking to regain lost height and get some rake so I can raise the front without being Cali leaned haha. And so it doesn’t sag when I put a couple bags of mulch in the bed lmao

I’ve had the TSB 4 leaf leaf springs for about 4-5 years and sit level with stock front coilovers and a camper shell. I am going to install some 3rd gen take offs and don’t want to be nose high. How much lift is a 3 leaf aal giving? I can’t believe just a camper shell makes the lightest model 2nd gen only sit level - if I had a longer truck I’d be disappointed.

Anyone attempt to run 275 or 285’s at stock height? I don’t have mud flaps and trimming plastic / pinch weld / cmc doesn’t make it a deal breaker - just curious. Don’t want to add a bunch of extra parts to the mix.

I have 5100s set at 1.75 and switched to 2012 4 leaf pack same as tsb leafs and it sits 1.25" higher out back without any other parts. Been thay way for 5 yrs or so and still good. Haul things on occasion and never complains. no shell or permanent weight other than trifold tonneau and extra steel tailgate panel. rides great and have been happy with it. i would think an add a leaf with the 4 pack would work fine with shell and a bit of other weight all the time. i wouldn't bother with any blocks. just my 2 cents.....

That’s assuming they paid full price when they bought it I’m thinking more like $5k more

Honestly 1.25” in back would be the perfect amount of lift!!

Update: Snagged the 4 leaf packs for $120. Need to find time to install em. Luckily I do have another running and insured project truck if worst comes to worst

Just to be clear.....just the 3 leafs out and 4 leafs in that had about 10k miles on them when I got them raised the back just shy of an inch doing nothing else. Setting the 5100s on 1.75" setting up front and having 4 leafs out back yielded the 1.25" difference in height from front to rear, rear being higher. That and the 4 leafs making the truck ride much sturdier without body roll compared to the weak ass 3 leafs. I have loaded it down with over 1000 pounds and was still about 2" off the bump stops. Don't do that often nor did I drive more than about 25 miles like that but it did handle it like a champ.

So I just purchased 255/80/r17 falken wildpeaks. I have a regular cab with 5100s all around set at the 3rd setting. There's quite the gap with the 265/70/r17 dunlop at20s that are on there. I'm hoping that the wildpeaks won't power down my regular cab too much. Did anyone have to do major cutting or anything crazy to fit the tires where they don't rub? Anyone notice a major power loss with the skinny tires? I don't think I will but doubts are getting to me a bit.

I have never run 255's but I did run 235's. They did impact power over the stockers, but it was very negligible. This past tire purchase I went up again to 285's. Oh yeah we got a power loss now lol, but the truck looks good and I love the added clearance and performance offroad.

I didn't have to do anything to fit the 235's. I had to cut a whole lot out to fit the 285's including my cab mount. It still rubs on the front of the wheel well plastic crap. I'd fit them and then trim what you need (if anything).

I've heard the power loss from 255's isn't very bad at all. Wanted to go that route but didn't like the offerings in 16" and wasn't willing to drop the coin for 17" wheels. You will no doubt love it.

Hope I’m okay to post an update here! Just did my passenger side leaf upgrade and new Bilstein shock! Other side will wait till after work or tomorrow. Oddly going from 3 to 4 leafs didn’t add much height. Haven’t measured but maybe a half inch? Either way they’re in better shape rust-wise and should hold a hair more payload without as much sag I hope! And be a better base when I add a leaf or small block
