Any of y’all with a bilsteins setup have any vibration issues after install? I’m probably gonna bite the bullet soon on the 5100s at 1.75” and a 1” rear block. I have a 4 leaf OEM setup on the rear and don’t want to mess with an AAL. Also they don’t make a 1” AAL. Anyways, I’ve heard tapered blocks are better. What blocks do you recommend? Lastly, I’ve read about an ecgs bushing that makes noise when you lift the reg cabs. And that they’re more prone to driveline vibrations than access cab or double cab trucks. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: I could also go the safe route of 0.85” front, 0.5” rear but go big or go home right? Can you notice a difference in height driving and getting in or out of the truck at 0.85 or 1.75? I had a 3” lift on my jeep XJ and coming from -1” sagged stock suspension to 3”-3.5” felt like I was in a mini monster truck. I miss that feeling

I got the vibes immediately after doing a lift. I would purchase a ECGS bushing and get that done while doing the lift. Since everything will be off may as well do it. Anytime you lift the truck it's only a matter of time.

2006 manual. OME 884 with 5100s and AAL. I still have some meat left on the tires but need to go a lil bigger. Looks funny to me with the 265's20201228_102536.jpg 20201228_102536.jpg

Replaced everything suspension wise with stuff off a 2020 sport. First time my wife drove manual back in November.

Alright fellas, so I’ve got a question about the limits of our trucks.

A little preface - I’ve got a FlipPac currently and after about two years of no issues I finally damaged the bed. I’ve been putting off bed stiffeners like a dummy but I’ve got some on order now which I hope will help the bed for getting worse while I figure out what I want to do.
    CBCF9075-EC62-4417-93F4-81D827B0E739.jpg

Anyway, I’m considering on going flatbed and potentially fabing something up for the FlipPac. Alternatively down the road (realistically a pipe dream) I’m thinking about a 4wheel flatbed slide in.

The flatbed slide in shell (bare minimum) is about 900lbs dry but after loading gear dogs and myself and the lady I feel like that’s probably way too much weight for our trucks to be remotely comfortable on road much less trying to run even moderate trails.

    thoughts?

You could use these in the rails and make some angle iron into braces going from one bed rail to the other:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009SWGLHW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I made a cage in my first gen that allows me to keep my heavy equipment supported by the cage which is directly supported to the frame which is completely removable when requiring the bed space. You could make the same kind of thing reaching up to support the flippac and take the load off of the bed rails if you're not interested in removing the bed.

I am curious? Could you just bolt a welded support at the rear of the bed?
    0111201258.jpg
Just make something like this only it goes to the top of the bed so it can support some of the load? If you don't have a full size camper, add another bar straight across to the other support. Better yet, add a quick release if you're just mall crawling till next weekend.

Ya I’ve got a set of Total Chaos on the way they should be here Friday. I think they will help for a while but I’m not sure that it’ll help from that corner getting worse over the long run. I had thought about some bars to go across which I also think will help but I’d have to come up with a different solution when camping because those would be pretty inconvenient. Either way I guess we’ll see what happens!

I'm about due for some new tires and I'm considering going with 235/85r16. WHat load range are people running? It's probably more common for people to be running E but is anyone running C? I'm curious if C has any benefit for our trucks considering they are fairly light.

I put on 265/75/17 KO2's and they noticeably affected how much skinny pedal was needed from takeoff with my manual transmission. I don't want to keep them because of this. My other truck has 35's so I'd rather have lighter weight tires on my daily rig.

For sure, that's more or less what I'm trying to figure out. My 4x4 5mt has the 265/70/r16 - SL Pathfinder AT's at the moment which is listed around 40lbs per and is no longer my daily I'm just using it at a trail/camping rig. With that said I'm considering bumping the tire size up a bit and figured that a tall skinny might fit the bill for size and weight. I'm just wondering if a C range is fine for our trucks vs an E range.

I'm currently looking at the Pirelli Scorpion MT 235/85r16 C range and listed at 43lbs per. Or should I go with something like the Yokohama Geolander MT E range but listed at 51lbs per which is way heavier considering.

I've seen a mixed bag of opinions on SL - C - E etc just wondering if there was a consensus here.

Looks like my tires are 53-4lbs each. If it was the only rig for wheeling I had, I'd probably be alright given the weight, but I've wheeled many dirt miles (no crawling or silt / deep snow) just fine with stock take off tires so C range would totally be good for my use of the truck. I'd like a somewhat deep tread AT without the heavy weight.

I have had the Pirelli Scorpion MT 265/75r16 C rated on my truck for the two years I've owned it. This is the same diameter as the 235s and They aren't that hard to turn. They wear well and I'll probably buy them again if nothing better comes along...like BFG KM3s in a "C".

Awesome good to know, I think the scorpion is what I’m leaning toward and the price is pretty great for the 235s. I dig the KM3s but doesn’t look like BFG makes then in the 235s.

Truck is a little dirty, but I scored a used thule roof and truck bed setup yesterday for a good deal. Saved about $500 buying used and it’s still in decent shape. Just waiting for my ski rack to come in the mail for my fishing poles, and some end caps for the rack in the bed. Wanted to go with the dual setup in the bed but I didn’t want to get rid of my toolbox so roof mount was the only other option.

Well finally got a new set of tires today. I was looking for the Pirelli Scorpion MT but apparently the Pirelli Rep told the discount dude they are on national back order probably 3-9 months sooo had to go a different route.

    235/85R16 Geolander MT.
