Ha ya it’s a bit lighter now but that’s for the time being. I guess the wheeling finally caught up to me and I broke the bed. I’m trying to figure out some sort of brace to take some of the weight off the rails so I can get the FlipPac back on. I’ve got bed stiffeners now but I’m not sure that would have helped the situation had I had them before.

You could make something like this:

Ya I've been working on something kinda like that. I'm not an engineer by any means but figured this might take some of the load off the bed rails and transfer it to the bed/bed mounts. If anyone has any thoughts I'm open to input.

All of the adjoining metal would be welded together.

Looks nice! I know how people prefer to not have anything going across the bed, yet making a couple easily removeable turn buckle / tie rod / cross member thingys with some T nuts probably will stiffen things up on uneven terrain and then remove them for camp.

Ya I was planning on something like that, maybe adding in a couple eye bolts toward the tailgate and use some sort of strap to stop it from spreading.

I’m planning on using those Tnuts to help hold the angle iron to the bed rail. So idk we’ll see if it all works I’m hoping to go get the steel this week and try the experiment out.

Ya that rear crossmember is expensive but shoot dang free 99 is always great I think that might even be worth shipping haha Fastenal maybe?

That corner gusset up top is a good idea. I do have the total chaos bed stiffeners now so definitely good on that front at least. I appreciate the input for sure!

I’ll join the party. I decided to upgrade from the stock 245/75/16 to 265/70/16. Since the diameter is the same, I haven’t noticed any difference in drive ability, and now it looks like the 4x4 it is. I still need to get out and get the tires dirty though...

With the current market value of tacomas so high (especially in California), I am wondering what our regular cabs are worth.
Also, since the regular cab is not in production anymore, are our trucks going up in value?
Eventually I will need to upgrade to a full size truck.

Has anyone seen regular cabs selling for insane prices around them?

I bought mine for $17k about 3 years ago. Last time I looked for giggles and grins comparable units were going for $23k to $25k. If I were to sell mine, and I won't, I wouldn't take less than $22k.

I bought mine for $13.7k 3 years ago, with 75k on it. Comparable ones are listed for 18-20 locally, with more miles, and stock. Strongly considering selling if I can find something to replace it. Its been a great truck! But I wouldn't mind a nice DD and putting the rest in other projects

I’m considering selling mine since I never drive it and prices are up. If I can get 18k, I’ll let her go.

You can certainly get 18k for it. Nice truck.

My brother recently had his '07 double cab Tacoma with 200k+ miles stolen and totaled. Insurance company gave him $13,900 for it. Crazy!
