Can anyone recommend springs for a regular cab and Billy 5100's? Im looking for close to 3" but all the stats are for V6's and I dont know how it will settle. 844 with .5" spacers are popular but I would rather go with a 885, both have 590 pounds spring rate which is oem.
I also was temped by the 877 but that might be too much on such a light truck. 885 is 15.5 inches and 887 15.7
All of which will only add 1.5" max as oem spring height is 14.25"
Id like to get all my hight from spring and set 5100 to 0
    Thoughts guys?

(oh and I love all the pics of the reg cabs, from unmodded to modded).

2.5 inch lift: Full Dobinson's suspension kit, Freedom Off-road UCAs, 265/75r16 tires on factory Baja alloy wheels. x2 Baja Designs Squadron Sport Led Pod lights. CBI Moab 2.0 Aluminum Bumper w/full hoops, Warn Evo 8k winch. Ultraguage. Midland CB radio with 3ft Firestick Firefly. Tacomabeast/Spyder Headlights. Rear diff breather. Cruise mod. A.R.E. Topper. Prinsu topper roof rack. Hail damage mod.
Speaking from personal experience, I would definitely not go bigger than 885. I went 884 because I did a deaver AAL and wanted less rake, a little more level. I ended up with probably about 2.5 inches or more in the front and I don't think it settled much. Its about a half inch higher on the passenger side because I didn't compensate for the notorious "taco lean". The ride is pretty smooth and I ended up adding an aluminum full front bumper and a warn 8k winch. probably around 120 lbs or so added to the front end and I don't really think it settled at all, maybe a quarter inch? I still have at least two inches up front so if you're wanting a solid 3 or close to it I would do 885. 887 would be way too stiff for our trucks from my understanding.

Here's a picture of my baby, I was honestly hoping the front end would settle to 2 inches but idk if it will. I have had the coils for about 1.5years and added the bumper and winch in November. It's got about 3/4 to an inch of rake in the rear which isn't much and when I add much of a load it starts to look kinda squatty. Don't go AAL on these trucks folks! I would do a full leaf pack if I had to do it again!IMG_2373.jpg

My old truck had the 885 springs which were pretty stiff. I think they gave a full 3" of lift on the reg cab.

I just dont need the flexibility of coil-overs (I wish, same as my bimmers coil overs are the way to go), I cant afford them.
If your aiming at a set lift hight and ride for off road or on it seems you can achieve it with the 885 and those billys. Im glad someone mentioned not to get the 887, thanks. Iv heard springs are stiffer for newer shocks. But then others are saying these are stiff?
OME spring rates are the same as OEM. Any other spring option?

(I love the white I hardly see those here, snow country)

Here's the lift guide showing the OME springs and lift amount. You can't look at the length of the spring to get the lift amount. The 884's will give around 2.5" and the 885's will give 3" on the reg cab trucks.

Cool thanks. So the 885X is pre stressed so it wont have to settle so I very well could hit my 3" or under lift. But the consensus is 844's with 1/2 spacers which Im still not sure will give me 2.5" of lift on the front. I found someone selling 855X with 5100's for 300 bucks used lightly. But Im afraid it will go over 3" and be too stiff of spring.

Cool, just looked em up, 500 bucks!!. I wonder if I could get away with factory control arms. Maybe better with the 844 although theres less then a half inch hight difference.

If you go with the 884's and get 2.5" of lift and still want the extra you could put in some 1/4" spacers to get the extra 1/2" of lift. I think the 884's will be better on your cv angles and might make it easier to align. Be prepared to do the ECGS bushing on the driver's side axle because you'll probably get the rumble strip vibration after lifting it 2.5 or 3".

Thanks. I have 3" spacer that make my life hell, stiff. Why I want the 885X more now, 844 is only a little more than an inch then stuck.
Im having that bushing put in by shop soon. I like the idea of having the 2.5" then option for spacer however, 844. What to do about the 5mm driver side spacer.

You dead on about the CV axle rubbing, this is it. I sure do like those tacomas people postedbefore this are soo bad ass.

I know tire pressure varies wildly between individual preferences...

Those of you running 285/75R16 "E" tires, what psi do you run for our little trucks? How did you come to that number?

Load charts don't go under 35 psi for E tires, which tells me that the minimum for road use is 35 psi.

35 is like riding on wagon wheels.
