    Anyone else with a 3500 lb RC 2nd Gen who has done 2.0’s or 2.5’s?

    I had an extra set of fox rear 2.5 w remote reservoir and DSC so I got some basic fox 2.0 fronts and had them both installed.

    It’s still a bit more of a harsh ride than I expected even after adjusting preload down. The previous suspension, at 128k and 17 years, was fine. I probably should have left it as is.

    I’m wondering if 500 lb springs would make sense for such a light vehicle. I’m not sure I fully understand how it’s all playing together but I think the primary stuff ride comes from the fronts. Also wondering if I would benefit from shock tuning? Just not sure what the options are really.

    The full 2.5 remote reservoir dsc setup on my 2016 is a dream, I think mostly because it’s a heavier vehicle.

    I don’t have a Pre-runner or 4x4 but on our 5 lug Reg cab and Access cab there’s a BIG difference between the OEM front springs. I did install Icons when we had our 2015 DCSB Pre-runner V6 just for the nice ride and better handling. I could tell the 650 lbs springs were on the stiff side.
    What front spring rate / springs do you have?

    I asked Fox and I believe they said the springs are 600 and suggested 550’s might not be a noticeable difference. But 500’s sounds drastic unless anyone else has experience with that.

    Dave,
    These are some of the best made springs available. I believe you need 2.5” x 14” springs if so here’s a link.

    https://www.a1racing.com/hyperco-1814b0500-coil-over-spring-2-5in-id-14in-tall.aspx

    Edit;
    Dave, just for an example on spring rate. This gentleman has a Access cab Pre-runner with an Iron block LS engine swap. He’s running 550 lbs front springs so I’m fairly sure 500 lbs springs will not be too soft…

    Anyone had to replace rear parking brake cables on their 2nd gen Tacoma with bench seat? If so, did you have to pull up the carpet to get to the portion that connects into the cab? I’ve watched videos online, but they’re of double cabs with bucket seats, so they remove the cup holder and the linkage is below that……..which I don’t have.

    You don't have to remove the carpet, it has an opening right behind the cables to access them. You might need to remove the seat to get enough room to work though.

    Damn, was hoping to be able to do it without removing the seats. Does it seem like something that can be done in 8 hours? Gonna attempt this at work, boss could care less what I do during work so it’s the perfect time to fix it without interruptions.

    You may be able to get away without removing it. Push it all the way forward and see. I took my bench out a while ago so I can't help you further there. And as far as how much time, I've never worked on my parking brake cables so I can't help you there. As far as removing the seat, shouldn't take you more than 20 minutes. Less if you have a buddy. If your seat has airbags remember to unplug your battery first to be safe.

    Has anyone slapped a pro skid plate on their truck? The oil filter door won't be usable, right? But otherwise it would bolt up just fine?
