Well @daveeasa there you go. Apparently I was giving the wrong info‼️ What’s F-ing new⁉️ :frusty:
4.0L and a few bolt on’s should really go in the lighter reg. cab.

Sadly I don’t *think* there are any aftermarket cams like the gutless 2.7L but I don’t really know!
@Torspd Im sure you would know. Sadly the aftermarket support is nowhere near as strong as it is for the LS platform! I purchased the new cam from Summit for the 5.3 for $269 shipped.

Yeah, I was surprised to find this out. I am quite a fan of the Toyota 4.0. I just need a donor truck though so the search is on.

Maybe this has been asked before and I'm just not searching the correct terms but, what skid plates will fit on a 2nd Gen singlecab? My understanding is they should all fit? Maybe I'm stupid. I was looking at this but the guy on the phone said he doesn't think it will fit.

I have Pelfrey Built. They took a little massaging on the T-case skid, but they really do fit fine.

Hey y’all! I have my Eibach Pro Truck struts coming in today in the mail! Few questions for those that used bilstein 5100s or pro truck struts. I’m thinking of going to the second highest clip as I don’t want to mess with control arms atm. It’s supposed to be 1.6” lift. Now, with the regular cab will I get more lift than that because it’s a lighter truck? Or is that only an issue when changing spring rates?

Also, how many of you had to do the ecgs bushing? I’m on the fence as to whether or not I should throw it in now or do it another day (I have work tomorrow)?

Lastly, if you jack the truck up enough to driver side while doing the ecgs install, can you save yourself from having to top off the diff fluid? Any help is appreciated!

You shouldn't have to do the bushing if only lifting 2" or less.

Thanks man. I think I’ll see if it vibes. At least get the struts in for now. One day at a time when it’s cold out and I have work too, yk?

Hey man so I got the strut out and have the spring under compressors but the shock itself isn’t popping out of the coil, even with the top nut removed. Any idea why?

So drivers side is totally done but the castle nut on the upper ball joint stripped on the passenger side so my dumb ass cut it off and I was gonna replace the ball joint but thinking now, maybe I say screw it, get aftermarket UCAs with new joints, and raise the struts to 2.5”…but only if I can get the top plate nut off. It’s completely rounded off due to rust, and of course it’s the one in the back right by the engine bay.

if anyone has any ideas on how to get it off, send em my way!

The time has come to lift my Single Cab 2007 4x4 2in or so (trying to avoid UCAs). Torn between the Eibach kit, and Dobinsons. Both around $1k. Which kit do you recommend? Also should I do an AAL or block in rear? Lastly, should I expect vibrations with that amount of lift? If so, what is the solution? Thx!

I would HIGHLY recommend getting a new leaf pack built to the amount of lift you want. My Alcans are 1.75" and they made as much difference in ride quality as installing Kings.
You shouldn't experience vibrations at that height. I installed UCAs, but it was fine with the OEMs.

I did it, y’all! I got the upper strut mount off. I had to literally hand-saw in half the stud on the inner side AND drill holes in the flare of the nut and hit the holes with the corner of a chisel until it spun, but I finally did it! 5-6 hours on the drivers side getting the lay of the land, would’ve been a couple hours passenger side but the strut mount bolt AND the ball joint castle nut stripped. Cut off the ball joint, then decided I might as well replace the whole UCA. So probably 10-15 hours on the passenger side including runs to the parts store.

Kit was an Eibach Pro Truck strut (stock coils) and I set it to second highest perch (1.6” est on the instructions). Rides about the same as stock if not better. I specifically chose the Eibachs as I heard rumor that they’re valved better for potholes and things than the 5100s. Could also be that I was on original shocks from 2012 in the pothole-infested rust nest we call New England.

Had it up to 50 mph and If there are any new vibes, I don’t feel em but my tires are cupped and I have been chasing various other vibes too. I turned on 4x4 and no difference so I don’t think I got any new vibes!

Got 1.5-2” add a leafs on order, I’m on a 4 leaf oem pack but they’re a little sagged. AALs should be here sometime by Sunday. I figure they’ll be fine with the bilstein shocks I have in the rear, expecting to net 1.5”-2” over stock initially due to low weight of reg cab, but then settle to 1-1.5” over stock due to worn out rear leaf packs. My goal was a lift with no crazy cost or vibes, and still have slight rake (I think reg cabs look tough and sporty with the rear a bit high, plus I don’t wanna be dragging when the bed is loaded down). If the leafs go in smoothly, I think I’ll have what I set out to do suspension-wise! It’s been a long time coming as I’ve wanted a lift ever since I bought the truck in 2017! Here’s a little before and after teaser!

She’s done! AAL is in! Extremely slight vibe at 25-30 but not enough to bother me, and as the AAL settles down it’ll only get less noticeable. Got what I was hoping for! Bout slight lift all around (haven’t measured) and keeping some rake for dump runs and whatnot! Now I don’t worry about slamming my bumpstops either lol

2.5 inch lift: Full Dobinson's suspension kit, Freedom Off-road UCAs, 265/75r16 tires on factory Baja alloy wheels. x2 Baja Designs Squadron Sport Led Pod lights. CBI Moab 2.0 Aluminum Bumper w/full hoops, Warn Evo 8k winch. Ultraguage. Midland CB radio with 3ft Firestick Firefly. Tacomabeast/Spyder Headlights. Rear diff breather. Cruise mod. A.R.E. Topper. Prinsu topper roof rack. Hail damage mod.
Which Dobinson's kit are you looking at? I can't speak for the Eibach but I have the Dobinson's twin-tube kit with C59-302 front coils. I think I have the 600lb constant load leafs in the back? If you use your truck at all, get leafs. You won't regret it.

I Have about 3 inches of lift or just shy of. Thats with a full front aluminum bumper and winch, which probably only ads like 100 lbs to the front. Also have a fiberglass shell and prinsu rack. On a rough patchy highway it rides a little rough. On a smooth highway it rides like a dream. Off road, it stays planted very well.

As far a vibes, you'll get em. I only had a vibe around 55 to 65 and my mechanic put 2 degree shims in to fix it but that just made it worse. Now he's going to build me a custom double cardan shaft out of a new Toyota shaft and a first gen shaft that has the double cardan joint. I brought up Tom woods to him and he said it was cheap Chinese junk lol....He's seen too many of them fail. So this was his solution. I'm hoping it will smooth it out completely once and for all. I will report back when it's done.
