Q, anyone know if the 5 lug and 6 lug both use the same frame? More to the point, would sliders for the 5 lug fit 6 lug and vice versa? Granted I suspect few 5 lugs are in need of real sliders but the question is asked by someone who builds them as to whether or not he would need a 6 lug to fit to or if any old RC would work for both?

Did any of you guys with lifted trucks figure out a cure for the vibes?

I got a 2.5 or 3 inch lift maybe, had vibes about 35mph and 55-65. Got a new driveshaft and it still does it. Mechanic said need 2 degree shims in the rear to equal out the front and rear u joint angles.

We did that and then I got vibes from about 25 mph all the way up to 75 mph and it is driving me nuts.

Want to take the shims out but is there a complete fix for this? I’ve read of people having luck with a custom double cardan driveshaft but I wanna hear some some success stories from people with regular cabs

    David,
Now don’t quote me but I believe they are the same except for the front suspension mounting location.
I’m using rear springs from a 6 lug. The fuel tank, bed mount, the cab mount, the fenders are the same other than small changes with the bolt on flares front bumper end caps and the rear axle housing is wider than the five lug trucks.

    Sir,
I’m guessing when you got a new drive shaft you got new Spicer u-joints? I know nothing but maybe try more angle w/ the shims? When I had 4x4 I never had that issue with lifts.

I THINK I read somewhere a long time ago that if you flipped your driveshaft, putting the slipyoke to the rear it works. When I bought my truck the slip yoke was near the rear diff. I have about 24.75 inches between my hub and the fender with no vibes, no shims, with Spicer u-joints.

All this said perhaps these trucks come OEM with the slip yoke in the rear position. I'm old and maybe my dementia is kicking in.

Are you 5 speed or automatic? My old 2013 automatic had add-a-leafs in the back with shims and no vibes. I did have the front needle bearing speed bump shutter around 20-22 mph but never got around to doing the ECGS bushing for that. I thought the 5 speeds had an issue with something that cause a vibe when lifted.

Yes I believe so, they are non greaseable. Angles of both flanges are now parallel but I'm getting hellacious vibrations/droning. I am thinking of going the custom double cardan driveshaft route, I've heard success stories. I believe with the double cardan, the pinion angle should be pretty much parallel with the shaft. Hate that I blew money on the stock replacement shaft

I have read there is mixed success with this but it might be worth a try?

This I have not heard. I do have a 5 Spd. Needle bearing has been replaced with ECGS bushing on my rig
