Thanks. My concern is living at 5000' elevation and driving on the freeway with the extra weight with the auto transmission. 35's and long travel suspension would be fun in the future though!

Changed oil on Monday, next thing you know I’m noticing slight hesitation in the throttle in 1st/2nd gear while driving over the next few days. Thought maybe I might have not added enough oil, checked dipstick and it was fine. Driving the wife to work yesterday, and all of a sudden truck shudders like crazy, check engine light flashing and abs light kicks on, 1st gear felt completely useless, almost like I’m in a limp mode. Hooked up a scanner, and now I’m throwing a P0304 code. Once I get to work tomorrow, I’m planning on swapping coil #4 with #1 and seeing if it’s actually the coil that’s bad or something else.

I threw together a high clearance rear bumper and threw the truck down some trails, being in the south it’s nothing but deep mud. Truck blew me away pulled out of every hole, 35’s and a locker we’re definitely game changers for that

Hows the 2.7 with those tires? And the ride with the kings? I think my Fox 2.0s are oversprung for the regular cab, and an contemplating swapping out to lower spring rate coils and/or adding a front bumper for more weight.

The ride is awesome. But the ride comes from the shock valving mostly, I had mine tuned by AccuTune, 600lbs springs and it feels amazing. I re-geared the axles to 5.29’s, so it pushes the 35’s just fine. Id do 4.88’s if I could do it over

    Great site!
Got my reg cab in 2019. Had 119k miles. Has 146k now.
All stock except for the wheels/tires which are 32s AT2 255x75 stones on late model 4Runner TRD 17s. No rubbing so far on lock2lock turns. I don’t rock crawl but the places I’ve taken it I don’t see rubbing anyplace. Got the wheels for a great price and just wanted to see if they would run on a stock setup. The look is growing on me and of course I’m a reg cab fanboy and despite the lack of power loaded down on the hwy in the mountains I love the 2.7.
Keep the rubber side down and be safe.

Unfortunately, I live in smog county (only two in Nevada and all of Washoe is smog). Maybe at some point I'll regear to 4.88's. My goal is to keep it simple.

A better picture of the lift compared to a stock F150.

Hi all, im quite new to this forum but have been reading up as much as I can and am getting ready to go look at a stock 2001 reg cab tacoma 4x4 TRD with 127,000 miles. If the frame is in good condition what would be a good asking price for it? I know the market is all over the place atm but im a fresh grad so not trying to bite off more than I can chew. He is asking 10.5K.

Thats actually a good price, especially for a 1st gen. As long as it's not rusty or beat all to hell. Also, keep in mind, Toyota didn't offer the trd package on the regular cabs, he could have just put the trd sticker on the bed, or he could have put the trd offroad shocks on it.
