Speaking of frames here a controversial one for you all. I had a small hole start to form on my frame. Instead of junking a good working truck I got to work on repairing it. Safetcap makes a good product. Cut out the rust that was in the inner portion of the frame, had a welder add the sleeve, then used rustoleum to paint the whole rear. One of my body mounts had a hole forming in it also so that was replaced with one from Alpine Designs. May not stop it but it'll at least put it at bay for the time being. Can't afford a new truck but I believe this is the next best thing.

JD fab frame brace is on, and works good. Chose to weld it on instead of bolting on, lots of work but I think it’s worth it. Truck is freshly detailed and about to go on marketplace

All great trucks, just love the simplicity of the 2wd base model, std cab, 5-speed, 4cyl. for my needs and maintenance competency. I can’t say I’m optimistic about a newer version from Toyota (or anyone) but I think it’s less unlikely than it’s been for some time.

    Cheers!

Current update. Was able to purchase it back. Overall nothing has changed on the truck (same modifications I had originally installed on it) with the addition of the front bull bar and side steps which I will be taking off. Also, some cheap led taillights were added. I have some OEM Led ones that I need to put it. I will most likely make a build thread documenting the “rebuild”. Truck currently sits at 80k miles, I had sold it with 49k back in 2018. Needs some tlc but overall still in good condition.

Just helping out on the ranch. Just re-geared to 4.88’s. Love it so far, haven’t done any long trips, only 45 minute drives at the longest until I get some miles in before doing any long highway drives.

I wanted red, but I took what I could find within my buying parameters. I never did see the color I wanted for sale during the year I searched. Good luck with your search.

I've been searching high and low and can't seem to find much of any information on upgrading the leaf pack on my 07 RC. Lots of info in here, but so much to sift through, and I'm hoping y'all can steer me in the right direction.
I'm currently riding on stock leafs with an AAL and bilstein 5100. This has worked great for my needs, but it's starting to sag when loaded for trips... I'd like to upgrade to a leaf pack that can handle a constant weight of about 300lbs (topper, tent, drawer build out), with an addition 150lbs (bikes, gear, water, cooler) for trips. I'd like to maintain around 2" of lift in the rear, give or take .25". All the information for leaf packs references access cabs or double cabs, I can't find any info on regular cabs. I do a good bit of driving on unmaintained dirt and gravel roads when loaded, rarely am I wheeling unless the obstacle is in my way. What have y'all done? What do y'all suggest?

I selling my 2012 Regular cab but looking at this thread may change my mind. I only have 86k miles on it. Lots of good looking trucks in here.

I believe the leafs are the same for all the trucks. I recommend calling alcan and telling them how much lift you want and how much payload.
I did one and three quarter inch of lift and stock payload. It was one of the best upgrades I've done so far.

Re: color choices, that's gotta be the hardest part of Toyota. I've owned a bunch but never really had a choice of two vehicles I wanted but different colors. It's easy enough for silver or white but anything else and man, you get what you get most of the time.

Re: leafs, people seem to not like them but the J66 pack on my '16 is really nice as far as ride quality. I think most of the negative is guys who are heavy and want/need the stage 1 or stage 2 for Deaver or some other HD setup. I'm on stock leafs on my '05 RC b/c I wanted to keep it stock height for now and the leafs already got the recall so they are spotless, not even a hint of rust, but if I were going for height or more rake, I might hunt for a 2nd J66. I'm on 500 lb coils up front after trying 550's which just felt too harsh and wouldn't let me get the nose low enough to match the stock leafs.

do you happen to know what the stock rate springs are for a regular cab? I’ve read on here and other places 520 / 550 for access cab / double cab. I’m going to be refreshing all 4 corners of my new to me truck, but front spring rate on RCs seems hard to come by as well …
