i know!! its the fact the 6lugs have the option of getting a lot higher lift than more 5lugs. so it makes it looks big. once i put those 35s on i realized that i have 14" of front ground clearance.
thanks man!! im really going to try and get more done to it so i can start taking it to some offroad shows and be apart of it rather than parked in the parking lot.

Maybe somebody can offer some advice here- I just got a '13 regular cab and I want to get a cool camping setup going for this summer. Originally I wanted a bestop for the light weight and ease of storage, but I've seen plenty of hard shells on craigslist for like $200, so I can't really justify spending the extra coin on the soft top. My problem is, this is my first pickup and I know NOTHING about shells. Like do I need one specifically for a tacoma, or if I find one from a similar small truck with the same dimensions will that work? How do they attach, clamps on the bedrails? How do you think it effects the MPGs versus a soft top? Please help!

I know I was just looking at that thread! I may have to get in on the next group buy, that is pretty sweet. I just want to explore some other options before I pull the trigger. I'm trying to do this on a budget, so if I could get my hands on a decent shell for like $200ish It'd make my wallet very happy! :jellydance:

Even if you find one that has the same dimensions as your bed, look at the cab side of it to see if it looks remotely capable of contouring to the rear of the cab.

I would look for tacoma specific, must be 2nd generation, and I would suggest getting one for regular cabs specifically. The other models have different contour on rear of cab. I bought a brand new shell for $699 and was really excited to have saved some cash. Turns out it was ordered before and guy changed his mind or it didn't fit or something, so they were discounting. Listed as regular cab - did not fit my regular cab. Had stupid gaps by the cab and rubbed my brake light on top. Really sucked. Had to order a new one and pay over $1,000.

Some brands of shell may fit RC if they were designed for other cabs, I guess it's really about the slope and how close the top front of the shell gets to your cab/brake light. Either way you'll have an annoying gap and it may hang off the rear an inch to prevent rubbing. Get the right one :)

Hickorylarge, Measure your truck bed from the outside front lip (cab side) to the tailgate. Then measure at the tailgate and add 2 inches on each side. Most caps clamp down. You may have to remove the bed rails to clamp down the cap. They just unscrew. Put the screws back in for safe keeping.

Watch the angle of your truck cab and the front of the cap. I reused my cap from my first generation Tacoma on my second generation Tacoma. I had to shift my cap back about an inch. It is not perfect, but it serves it's purpose.

yeah, 133s, 174s have same lip but round holes. kinda wish i had got those instead of the ar fuels. both ions were on my short list of black with polished lip.

wait, thats a 5 lug truck, the red one. not sure 133s come in 6 lug but incubus 511 looks very similar and fits 6 lug tacomas. maybe thats why i didnt get the ions.

Yeah, my truck is a 5-lugger! Not the usual small 5-lugger though :) This beast has a lift, 31's, currently working on interior aspects and HOPEFULLY will get my eyelids and satoshi put on in the very near future! 133's DO come in a 6-lug pattern, there was a guy on here that had them on his Prerunner Access Cab

It was a lug pattern only comment and x2 on not the usual 5 lugger. I have no problem with regular 5 luggers either. I like them all. Websites I hit said the 133s wouldn't fit 4x4/prerunner but that could've been their site's issue and not reality I suppose. I know the 174s would fit 6 lug but liked the 133s better so that's why I ended up going with the 6 spoke black/polished AR Fuels since I knew they fit everywhere I looked.

Thanks for the advice on the caps guys, that's pretty much what I thought.

RaleigTaco, any chance you can post some more pics with your plasti-dipped wheels? I have the same truck and was curious how that would look on the stock wheels. Looks pretty damn good from what I can tell in this pic! How is the dip holding up?

This is the only pic i have right now. It looks great and i have had it on for almost 3 weeks!I havent had any chipping or peeling yet and im on construction sites daily. I also plasti dipped my badges and toyota emblem in the grill. The only part about the wheels was trying to get good coverage on the lip where it meets the tire because i did not take it off. I will try and get some close ups tomorrow and post them
