My thoughts exactly! My wife thought I was a little crazy buying 2 bikes and selling 1, but you said it perfectly...
Mostly a fun bike, trails and open-practice day at the tracks nearby... I may get back into racing but it's been 10 years and I need a lot of time to get re-acquainted before I'll be back at the gate.

The only thing I'm concerned with is the bike is sprung for a 125lb B rider. I'm a 160 pound C rider who's been out of the game for 10 years, so maybe it'll even itself out...chances are I'll have to tweak some things, but I'd like to avoid replacing fork/shock springs.

Run it. No need for all that if you're not racing.

x2, and like you said, if the previous owner was fast he'll have it pretty stiff for his weight, might be pretty good for you having not ridden in 10 years.

Edit: I would set the sag, that'll tell you if you need a stiffer spring or not.

Definitely need to set the sag. Can't wait to see what 10 years of R&D and a professionally set-up suspension feels like compared to my old bike (98 RM 125)

Friend of mine had a 2000 rm125. Pro action worked the engine. Race tech did his suspension. That thing was a fuckin animal. I think it pulled harder than the 98 rm250 he had. And that was a handfull if you weren't expecting it

Those 125 engines weren't to be messed with, they were putting out 33 HP when the next strongest 125 was putting out 31. The powerband hit soooo hard and abruptly, it was ALL top end. It was a blast to ride!

Just posted this in the show off your motorcycle thread, figured it'd get a little more appreciation with some fellow 2-smokers.

Hell yeah! Just found this thread, I'm a 2 stroke enthusiast. Here's my 1972 Yamaha R5. I also have a 75 Yamaha DT125 and a 73 AT-3 project, but I can't find any pictures of them right now.

No no trials for me yet. I just got back into riding and I got a good deal on this 200 from a friend of a friend. It's an awesome bike to re-learn on and now I'm gonna re-jet and do a few performance mods to get some more juice, I'm pretty happy with it now but I just can't resist playing around with a few things.

I grew up on Husqvarna dirt bikes but these days ride a 1970 Vespa 90.... I love 2-Strokes so much that I even wrote a Haiku about them a few years back:

    2-Stroke smoke - blue gray
    Diverging colorful sky
    Summer's sunset ride
