In the process of fixing my dad's old KDX200 right now. Haven't rode in about 5 years, but just moved home from college and wanting to get back into it.

Anyways, anyone have any tips for lacing a rim? Never done it, and don't really want to spend the money to have it done if I could just do it at home.

Youtube, plenty of good vids on how to lace MTB hoops on there. How I learned to do mine.

IT is a pain in the ass, but good call on learning how to do it and saving some $$$$.

Like Phil said, YouTube. I don't have any rims laying around to make a picture how to lol.

A good seat to sit on or a carpeted surface. Alcohol or some sort of helper agent to pass the time. :)

Yeah, choose a side, and be sure to keep the first set of laces loose. Next side turns into a bitch. Now that I make money I will pay someone to do it.

Now a days, you and me both brotha. Between 50 hour work weeks, gym, cleaning, side work, side projects. Sitting and doing nothing sounds amazing. One of these days I need to work a nap in.

I just lay around all week and race on weekends. ;)

And on lacing, get them in all the right spots, get a truing stand or make one out of wood. and slowly start tightening while making sure its all centered.

As a matter of fact I am lacing up a wheel today, taking a 19" wheel and got new spokes to put on an 18" hoop.

Maybe I will take pics if anybody gives a flying fluck. I am so type A that taking pics it kinda difficult, but I will try.

My motto: Full speed ahead, get outta my way, lol

God damn this thread make me miss riding a two stroke. Right now I'm riding a TTR 250 Enduro bike and it's just not the same. This summer once i make some money I hope to pick up a Yz or Cr 250 with a trail riding set up.

Well I got the easy part done and got the all the spokes in and tightened the same. Tomorrow, I'll try and true it to the best of my abilities here at home and go from there.

    Sick dent

I love my cr250 on the trails, it's no KTM enduro machine but with a few more upgrades I'll have it dialed where I want it. Even in some of the nasty Wyo terrain it chugs along pretty damn good.
