About 170 with gear. Everything I have ridden for the last 8 years has been full freestyle for ramps, so although my weight is decent for stock suspension on that bike I know its going to feel soooooft. And yeah I don't know about the brands but I know they had a major suspension change in '06

That suspension is dialed for desert and track, I would throw a lighter oil and call it a day if that was all you were riding. But like you said, it will be soft for mx'ing. Btw, what's it like only weighing 170. I got down to 182 from 190 but I think I went back up again.....

Been in the construction industry for 6 years now both in the field and behind a desk using AutoCAD and Revit. Looking for something along those lines with potential to move into a Project Engineer/Project Manager position down the road. Definitely willing to go back to school but would need either A) a higher paying job or B)tuition reimbursement.

I really doubt I will ever jump ramps again but the extra suspension is nice for the oh shit moments. Other than that I think my back would prefer non freestyle valving lol

LOL, the non kick through the whoops tends to help with that. On my 2000 all I did was swap in light oil up front. That bike could not have been any more plush in the dez and at ET, Canyon, Speedworld....

Ive had a 98 and 03 YZ250, a 04 and 06 YZ450, and a 03 CR250. All but the '06 and the CR had OEM suspension. On braking bumps and ruts at the track those two bikes were impossible to ride fast without getting beat

Keep it in the Northwest man. I know at the end of the day you need work, but at least live somewhere enjoyable :)

I'm from Virginia bro, LULZ. Only moving to get a couple years of better experience under my belt so I can transfer or find a better job higher up around here later on.

    You so smart :)

Never been to Virginia. I am biased, I grew up in the Northwest.

Slap on some 2006+ front forks on the Yami for the SSS setup, way better.
Same triple clamps the front axle is longer but still works.

    I race one. a 2005 YZ295 with 2006 suspension.

I just got back last night from Havasu doing some testing on my new bikes.

I finally got the AF500 all dialed in, shes a ripper!! The 2013 KX450f isnt a slouch either..smoked a brand new MX-71 rear tire in 4 hours..:(

Still waiting for Millenium Technologies to send my shit back for my YZ that I grenaded at the checkers race, fawkin laggers!

    So now I have 2 CRF450r (08 and 06) a 2001 CR500, 06' CRF250x, 2004 CRF250r FRAME/ 99' motor AF500, 2013 KX450f, and a 2005 YZ295.

Jeezus. Gotta liquidate. Oh I also have a CR500 chassis I stole the motor from for the AF convrsion

I was just up in it ;), yeah Virginia is alright, I'll make do for now to get that experience in to advance the career. Like speed said, swap that front end. I was going to suggest it but I couldn verify if they had the same tripples. Should be cheap and easy to do out here.

I really plan on trail riding and taking it easy on this bike, but you know how it goes once you put a helmet on. Hmm just a few hundred bucks to swap forks, tempting but I need the bike first :D

The 06+ has the Speed sensitive suspension (SSS) and it really works well, the rear changed shaft diameter but not worth the swap.

I can ride through rock gardens and still race the desert at full gallop without touching clickers and it works perfect in both types of terrain without compromise.

I cant trail ride, it always becomes a trail race, even by myself, I got some wires crossed a birth or something. If I go slow on anything I start to die inside, and we cant have that!

    This
and that, it's full bore or no bore....

What's really sad is I ride my single speed rear brake only pedal bike and, when I had it, my downhill as though they are dirtbikes. Trying to retrain 10 years of straight to the berm and throttle out mentality is really really REALLY hard.

Checkin in to this thread! as mentioned above my 05 yz 250 was probably the worst suspension ive had on a bike, I was about to revalve it but I got my first husqvarna, a cr 125 and it was so much fun the 250 was just sitting since I dont get out to glamis much anymore so I sold it. Lets just say marzocchi forks and ohlins shock are worlds better than the 05 yz suspension
