Took mine down to Georgia/Florida last week for some riding. I can't wait to run a few harescrambles this year now. 0E8EDE07-4C77-486F-B885-94CC53104AFC_37a75cc2de4c517175137bc981b41bc4d53561f1.jpg

Upshifting you don't need to use the clutch, and you don't need to worry about damaging anything. sometimes you need to ease off the throttle to make it easier to kick it into gear. Even on sport bikes thats the best way to upshift except you need to ease off the gas a bit or it won't want to go into gear. I use the clutch when downshifting because I want to slip the clutch coming out of the corner, and i don't want to stall

I'm thinking of adding a Rekluse Core EXP 3.0 to my YZ one of these days. You don't ever need to use the clutch if you don't want to, but you can still use it on the starts. Tons of bikes in Supercross and Motocross are running them now with great results.

Hey speed freek, just did some late night surfing on thumper talk and saw that you said you couldnt make chillis easter endo. Was hoping to meet you then! Gonna be ripping up the hero loop with my other yz buddies! Just did full fresh top end and cylinder, added a flywheel weight, and now ready to rip some rocks! Hope to see you out there for next years endo. :)

Still better than rebuilding a head and bottom end on a thumper.

This is what I do as well. Wasn't sure if it damages anything.

Nope it's a Suzuki. The while bottom end is fine but the bearing between the connecting rod and the crank grenaded itself when my friend blew up the bike so I have to pull everything apart to get at it.

Yeah I was gonna go until my wife reminded me that we are going to Vegas for her B-day!!! Dangit!
I love riding with Chili, he has some good stuff out there near his place. I was super bummed, I would MUCH rather ride than go to Vegas..Oh well, happy wife happy life right?

If anything changes I'm in though!! Keep me posted if I'm not racing always looking for riding buddies.

I raced in the Dirt Diggers Desert Scramble yesterday and pulled off a 3rd Expert open on my KX450, pretty stoked on that. Not bad for an elf, haha.

anyone using ATF in your transmission/gear box? i dont see how it could hurt anything. Figured id give it a shot in my 500 since it seems others from different forums have as well.

I run white bottle rotella t. I've heard atf is ok too but I just prefer running actual oil.

Lots of guys use ATF type F in their transmissions. Many report smoother shifting with this stuff. There are hundreds of good oil choices for your transmission or engine (4 stroke). Pick one and give it a try.

Personally I'm just using the Yamalube 10w-40 conventional oil in my YZ, but that's because I have a couple gallon jugs sitting on the shelf.

The most important thing is you need to change the oil frequently because the transmission gears shear the oil, and the clutch contaminates it. I change mine every 5 hours.

    YMMV

I think the cheapest option is to get a gallon jug of Shell Rotella T at Walmart for $14.

ATF is thinner and I wrecked a trans running it about 5 years ago, USE ROTELLA!
