That's what I'm doing, I don't like camp grounds. I don't have a gps head unit anymore so if my phone works I can get coordinates, but it's super easy to find

I am top heavy and I have done this trail in the wet and dry, all obstacles. No issues and very minimal damage that I could have drove around.

On my radar this year is Backcountry Discovery Trail through Plumas+ but starting in Tahoe NF (like around gold lake or some other cool first day meetup). I am looking at a week long route going north with all the beauty and rocks I can find. Not looking at dates until we start to see the snow melt. Anyone that is interested can PM me to see if it is something that interests you and that your rig is prepared for. If there is enough interest here, I will put up a post about it, but this site isn't really backcountry/expo happy. Will be dog friendly.

I guess I should have prefaced this that the FJC is a bit more "built" then our Tacomas. It's ~7ish ft tall, on 37s, the suspension is extremely soft and there's a rather beefy internal roll cage. All the combined really exaggerates the and makes anything off camber. The other thing about the trip we did there, my dad almost rolled the FJC since the who driver side suspension decided that it was just going to completely unload on him. Plus if you roll on that trail, you're not just flopping over on your side. You're rolling down a hill into a tree. All the combined is why I say top heavy/vehicles with a higher center of gravity aren't going to have the most fun.

Also remember that my dad is the guy who will take EVERY SINGLE hard line there is on the trail.

@jAndyMendo "a little" is probably a bit of an understatement...

I thought your name looked familiar. When I had my FJC I wanted to build it similar to your fathers. Decided to ditch the FJC and pick up a Land Cruiser instead.

You'll need at least a week for a scenic run like this. Took the kids on Poker Flat part 2d/1n, and still didn't get to see all the turn out spots. Wish I could take a week off for this, beautiful gods country, let alone all the 1800 history in the area to take in.

I'm ~35 minutes out from Carnegie. Tempting... I'd assume there's an entrance fee?

Keep an eye out for a silver first gen with a bunch of RelentlessFab armor. :spy: Might show up to to a "mini" shakedown run.

Yea. I'd love to yes right now, but I'm selling something on craigslist and I have someone looking at something I'm selling on Sunday. Don't know what time yet. If he can meet early, then I'll probably show up.
