    Planning a Labor Day trip near south Lake Tahoe. I know it's going to be crazy up there this weekend but the wife wants to go. Do y'all know of any good places to camp that may be away from all the tourists? Doesn't have to be around Lake Tahoe but in the general area would work. I know there are a bunch of smaller lakes around there so that would work perfect. And any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm just not very familiar with the area and don't know what fire roads are open and closed. My truck is pretty well built, but my buddy's truck is just a stock 4x4.

    Yeah I've never been and neither has my dad! I've driven by Klamath Falls a number of times on the way up to Bend, but never made the trek over to Crater Lake.

    Heading up this morning for a last-minute day trip to Wentworth Springs campground. I'll be taking the lightly-used western trail-head into the Rubicon trail thats not too far from the Airport Flat campground on Wentworth Springs road. This is a fairly easy section of trail, that a stock 4WD can do.
