The 2016 NorCal Camping/Wheeling Thread!

Still in the planning, but I think I will be doing a Strawberry/Coyote Lakes adventure Sept30-Oct2. Hoping it involves getting my new bumper installed the morning of the 30th in the 'No.

 

Drove up to Oregon with my dad this weekend to check out Crater Lake and find some cool off-roads. The original plan was to go up to Pelican Butte around Klamath Falls, but it wasn't the most technical route (mainly just a fire road) and we got stopped midway up. Drove around for a bit after popping into Forest Service roads here and there trying to find something cool. Ended up finding an awesome little loop trail called Buck Peak that was challenging and super fun. Had no idea where I was going but it was fun to just drive and explore. My front driver side shock might be a little worse for wear, though . It kept squeaking with a sort of rubbing or loose sound every time it was moderately engaged. Everything appears to look normal, but I'm kind of a noob so I'm not sure. Need to get it checked asap.

This is the beginning, steep portion. It got really steep around the bend. I'm really enjoying gaining experience off-road with my taco! I'm continually amazed at how versatile even my stock TRD OR is.

Might be installing rear shock relocate Saturday. If it doesn't work out I'm prob down. Signal peak looks fun. Any chance for Sunday?

I'm actually off this Saturday. Doing my spindles Friday night. If all goes well and I get them done I might be game.

 

i have my sons soccer game on sat morning, other then that i might be up for something close.

 

We usually leave sac around 9. But i will be getting a late start due to my sons game

Izzy has football at 9. I was thinking of jamming right after the game

I forgot I have dinner plans sat. dam it. I'm dying to get out. I'm in much need of some time in the woods. feeling very grumpy right now as life has been very busy. work, school, soccer, cooking dinners, ext. ext. bla bla bla. Why on earth did I decide to go back to school at my age

 

I am heading out to Copper mountain Friday late afternoon, camp the night. Saturday Kavanaugh Ridge camp out there for the night, Sunday hit Bodie ghost town and head home.
If anyone cares to join I can send them gpx files.

I admire people like you Jason, keep up the good work. Maybe we can take the quads up to that spot soon. Thays not too far.

also the joys of parenthood... and sleep deprivation. Love my kids, but I'll never attempt to convince people to have them. It does change my attitude towards life though. Anything I could have done differently, before meeting my wife, would have changed my life trajectory and my kids wouldn't have been born. You, know, butterfly effect and shit. So no regrets, even for those times when I fucked up royally.
