Well, I played a little. It's not a total disaster, as far as style goes. If they do the drivetrain right, the design can be overlooked. If they screw up the drivetrain upgrades, I'm guessing Chevy/GM will get a few more sales.

My brother-in-law brother had that Tundra with the flare-side bed. God was it ugly to look at.

the cab looks bigger to me, rear door looks longer and the sheet metal on the roof is smooth and not ribbed like on my 06. Probably to fit that sun/moon roof that you can see in the pics. Someone photoshopped one on the tacomaworld Facebook page and it looked pretty good.
I'm not a fan, but as other guys have said, it is growing on me. I'm going to save my final assessment for when I see it in person and also after I've seen one with a lift and some different wheels and tires. The killer for me is the front quarter panels, why they made them end on an angle like that makes no sense. Toyota is aware that a huge segment of the buyers for this truck mod the shit out of them, including plate bumpers. Ehh, to each there own though I'm sure a lot of people will love it.

Looks like a 98 dodge durango and a Mitsu Raider had a drunken 3some with a 2nd gen and had a baby....Ill wait for the "redesign"(minor facelift) in 5 years. Maybe a flux capacitor install and hover conversion by then!

It will grow on me i think, curious about engine and interior, and I agree with a previous post, there will probably a totally different look on the grill for TRDs. toyota has done this w the 4runner, camary and carolla on the front end and interior options in the past couple years. Should get very interesting, i doubt they would show their full hand this early, they have an ace up their sleeve im betting.

I don't own any 94 Toyota pickups. My sig doesn't say anything about a truck actually. Anybody can clearly see its the same body, I hardly consider a dual VVTI 4.0L a "different" motor. It won't even have direct injection most likely. And as for the frame, you don't know any better than I do. Chances are greater that it is the same frame or slightly updated but not a new one.

    These pop out to me:
I like the new body lines.
    I hate that front valance.
It's about time Toyota included a tailgate lock.
Mudflaps? Did Toyota finally acknowledge that problem?
The roof line doesn't seem as recessed relative to the sides, I'm wondering if the roofs been structurally improved. We all know how weak and thin they are on the 2nd gen.

There are a lot of changes to the look of the truck. I think we consumers will only accept this as truly a new truck if they significantly change the engine and drive train packages/options.

Looking forward to hearing more about this new evolution of Toyota mid-sized trucks.

Total bust....I was so excited to see the '16 and could not have been let down any further. Well I guess until i see a 4.0 v6 under the hood which would be par for the course.
