ATTENTION: The Annual Citrus Meet for March 27-29 is Officially Cancelled due to the Virus Outbreak and restrictions being put in place for large gatherings.

As of March 16 I receieved a call stating the event permit was cancelled, as were all other events at Citrus WMA for the month of March

The 2020 Annual State-wide TW Citrus Meet

    Date: March 27-29

Location: Citrus WMA (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday)

Campground: Holder Mine Campground, Citrus WMA

    CB Channel: 16

    Campground location and information:

    GPS: 28*47'58.14"N x 82*22'47.16"W

The Holder Mine Campground is located off of Trail 10 which can be accessed from CR 581 to the east. Campsites are $25/per night with 2 vehicles allowed per campsite, although that information is conspicuously absent from this year's regulations (or I didn't see it anyway).

Dogs are permitted at Holder Mine Campground, but must be leashed at all times in the campground area.

    http://www.freshfromflorida.com/Div...creation-at-Withlacoochee-State-Forest#holder

Directions: From State Road 44 in Inverness, turn south at the traffic light at Applebee's on Pleasant Grove Road (C-581). Drive approximately 2.5 miles (passing the fire tower) to Forest Road (Trail 10). Turn right (west) on Forest Road (Trail 10) and continue approximately 2 miles to Holder Mine Recreation Area and Campground.
    ---

    New Information (for 2017-2018):

IMPORTANT: Please check the top of the thread and vote on which weekend is better for you.

Holder Mine appears to have finally implemented the new reservations only system they have been saying has been coming. Go here to reserve a site...

    https://floridastateforests.reserve...ails.do?contractCode=FLFS&parkId=1120172#sr_a

In an effort to help organize this process, when you reserve a site, please post which site you've reserved and whether you've already got a buddy sharing the site so I can make note of it on the attendance list. This should help folks buddy up without reserving more sites than we need. Thanks.

The last two weekends of January are the only ones that wouldn't work for me. But I'm most likely in for this trip.

As for the location, I've never been so I have no concern over where we stay.

Never heard of holder mine. Sounds rocky. I like it. I'll go when ever. I'll take a primitive campsite.

Holder mine is great, it is all grass pretty much. We stayed there the night before the clean up. I like it much better than Tillis Hill

@Rattletrap66 Did you vote for Holder Mine? A lot of people aren't voting for a location it seems. So far we have a total of 9 votes for the month and only 5 for the campground.

I don't mind saying I'm a little creepified that there's so many votes for February. o_O As hot as it's been this summer, we might be in for a warm winter so we may not get as lucky with the cold temps this February as we did last. I guess it's cool though. I got me a new tent and I guess I can bring my fan and do Frank's redneck engineering air conditioning with the fan and a bucket of ice.

Definition down for the 2016 meet. Sad I couldn't make this year's
But I'm in for next year's.

I really don't care either Feb or Jan what ever works
Or gets the most votes I guess.

Ball joint spacers and lift blocks, am I doing it right?
Lee do we know when hunting season is over? It would affect the date I choose.

It's pretty much done at the end of December at Citrus, but I'll check to confirm.

edit: Hunting season ends on January 3, so I guess the first weekend in January is off the table. Small game season runs out from there to February 28, but that's always been the case and we've never seen anyone out there. Spring Turkey begins in mid March, so we're good there.

I voted January and Holder mine. I like January because it frees up some more cooler weekends for other wheeling trips before it gets too hot and Holder so we don't have to let 5.0 know we're coming ( with exception of cool K9 mofo's ).
