    I have a few mods
nope the pinion seal is really easy to fix. empty the diff (thats what I did so i could replace it as well), take the rear drive shaft off, take the pinion nut off and count how many turns it takes to take off (mark the bolt and nut with a sharpie), pull the flange off with a gear puller, pull the seal out with a seal puller, put the new seal in with a 2x4, flange back on, pinion nut on with the correct amount of turns, stake the nut, fill the diff up, bolt the driveshaft back up....boom, you're done lol. It would be best to check the diff breather as well if you havent done the breather mod to relocate it elsewhere, it could be clogged with dirt

Honestly, I'd just change the pinion seal first. It's a lot easier and the lube may just be climbing up the third member flange through capillary action. Get under there and power wash everything, change the pinion seal, clean any remaining gear oil off the housing with brake cleaner and then monitor it to see if it's still leaking. If it is then you might end up pulling the 3rd member to replace that gasket.

The third member is a lot effin' heavier than it looks. Unless you're Barny Bada$$, make sure you put a floor jack under it before you pull it. It also makes the job major surgery as well, since you have to pull the axles, which in turn means you'll have to crack open the brake system. Not sure about a 2nd Gen, but I didn't actually have to take the shoes and junk off the backing plate to get the axles out, but you do need to be careful when you pull them not to go too hard on the axle seals.

edit: Oh and make sure you take the axles all the way out. It's tempting to just pull them out far enough to be out of the carrier, but if you do that they'll be resting on the seals and potentially damage the seals.

For a second gen I left the tires on without unhooking the brakes and let the axles come out just a bit and let them rest on the tires.

I forgot the 2nd gens have two rear brake lines. That would be easier if you don't have to crack the system open. Just have to be real careful not to damage those axle seals. I'd still recommend replacing the pinion seal first to see if that stops the leaking before I went all in and yanked the 3rd member.

I going to replace the seal today. Clean up the area and see if I have any leaks. Hopefully I don't have to pull off the 3rd member.

Second gens kinda suck. I'm probably gonna take out the abs and replumb the system from the master cylinder to the wheels

Haha, well, at least you guys can pull your 3rd member without cracking the brake system. 1st Gens have a hard line that runs straight across with a distribution block in the middle where the flexible line connects. We have to disconnect the lines from the wheel cylinders to pull the axles.

It should be in the OP, yes, dogs are allowed but have to be leashed. Info on the campground can be found in the OP as well. If you have a specific question that isn't answered there, ask and we'll try to answer.
