I love the look of the gen4. Gens 3 looks boring now though I like the look of the gen3 as well.

    Slam dunk yeah!

I just hope they improved the suspension on the Ranger for 2024. I had a 2022 Ranger Tremor and sold it after 5 months. It was undriveable at highway speeds-like worse than a Jeep Wrangler. Thankfully it was during the vehicle shortage and I only lost $700 after driving it for 5 months.

    Lol!

Toyota please bring back understated. Some of us loyal customer old timers aren’t Bros…question does the 4G come with white framed sunglasses, a flat billed ball cap, and perhaps beard balm??? lol!

It is off the list anyway for killing them Super Cab, much like the 4G has a slim chance cause they offed the Access Cab. Not to mention the styling is embarrassing. Probably do a F150 or F250 next go around.

It was a good looking truck, but looks don't mean much when it requires a constant two hand death grip on the steering wheel to keep it on the road above 65 mph! That thing was borderline unsafe, and no, there was nothing wrong with it mechanically. The suspension on the Tremor was just tuned entirely for off-road use with no regard for on-road drivability.RangerTremor.png

Do like the looks of the Fords.

Did they ever find out what was wrong with it? You’re the first I heard complain about it.

The suspension on the Tremor specifically was very off-road focused. It was the teaser for the upcoming Raptor version. There was nothing wrong with it. Very similar to a Jeep Wrangler at highway speeds-just takes a lot of effort to keep it straight.

Was it just Fox 2.0s like you would purchase from a retailer? I still never got around to looking at one to see if it had adjustable collars or the fixed spring perch.

5G Ranger looks better than the 6G.

Interesting, have been in long travel, Class 7 and Trophy Trucks before with gobs of suspension. No issue keeping them straight. Hardest part is keeping your foot out of the throttle.

The Tremor isn’t even mid travel is it? Just a mild 1.5-2” lift yeah? Jeeps have a death wobble because of the SFA, odd that the Ranger would with a mild lift. Are you sure it didn’t have a wheel out of balance?

Nope. It was just suspension bounce that made it so hard to drive at 75 mph. No vibration or pulling, just super unstable when hitting any sort of bumps at that speed.

I dunno what it was, but it was extremely stressful to drive at highway speed. It was wonderful in town, and the seats were super comfortable. The 2.3l turbo was a beast of an engine too, despite my doubts. Ultimately it cost me a whopping $700 to drive it for 5 months thanks to the inflated used car prices. I bought it for $49,000 new at MSRP and Carvana gave me $48,300.

Sounds like a shock revalve or swap would have fixed it. Guessing rebound was too fast. However can’t really complain not losing hardly any money.

Love that engine! Hard to believe it is only a 4 banger. Had a deposit down on one, but Toyota was able to get me Tacoma faster. 5 weeks instead of 6-8 months(!) from Ford. Do like how you can kinda a la carte options with Ford, rear seat delete, and locker on the base XL, then I could build it up exactly how I wanted without added nonsense, but oh well Toyota won in the end.

Saw a 2023 Chevy Colorado in person today and it looked really good. IMO the GM twins are the best looking of the redesigned midsize segment. Well, at least on the exterior. I've seen interior pics online and it was pretty typical GM rubbery-plasticky questionable quality. I'm still getting a Taco, despite the exterior design being angular and a bit weird.

I think Colorado but not Canyon. However, the Colorado front looks like a Camaro than a truck.

Its just another plastic flex for consumers who buy trucks just so they can say they have truck while doing no truck work

I won't be using my truck for truck work, as it is mainly for overlanding and off-roading purposes. Don't really have a job that require the need for a truck.

Always considered Toyota trucks as off-roader/adventurer and American trucks as work trucks.

@VietKinh same, used to work construction, bought my first Toyota 30 years ago for a commuter to get to the bigger trucks. Awfully nice to jump in the little chick truck after sitting on earth moving equipment all day. Toyotas are great for running around, getting lunch, parts…and some light duty hauling for house duties, then load them up with toys and camping gear to go play on the weekends.

Of course the rest of the World gets the Tacomas brother, the HiLux and they work the hell out of those poor things.

You should see Hilux ( Tacoma in USA) or Land Cruiser ( 4runner in USA) those 2 are almost military class vehicles.. Hilux is known for carrying weapons and military equipment, truck is literally used in wars. Land cruiser on the other hand is luxurious SUV that can drive in any terrain, its insane car really with HUGE engine inside that never dies.

I have always preferred the Hilux over the Gen 3 Tacoma. Better payloads, better towing, fully boxed frame, better mpg, and fully indestructible.

Even though the Hilux is a bit smaller, it looks beefier and more well balanced. While the new Tacoma has a fully boxed frame, it is stuck with a turbo and not a turbo diesel.

No matter what, a Hilux can do everything a Tacoma can, but not the other way around. No tougher truck than a Hilux and no tougher SUV than a Land Cruiser.

If I'm not mistaken, the equivalent of the 4runner for the oversea market is the Fortuner.
