Not attracted to the black plastic part below the headlights, or big screens. Always drive with the screens off. I'll roll with a full-size truck if these aren't priced right, or if it has weak mpg numbers like a full size.

    I agree!
I've owned Toyota 4x4 trucks since my first in 1982. This is by far the worst I have ever seen by Toyota.
The body, and the paint choices are "HORRIBLE" ... At Best!!
It's a shame, I now own a 2018 TRD Offroad and was wanting to upgrade, but it looks like it all stops at 2023.
Toyota ... What are you thinking?

I was excited to hear about the new 4th gen Tacoma, but after seeing it, I think I will just keep my 2nd gen for now. I was thinking of selling my 2nd gen to get the 4th when I heard a new Tacoma was coming out at first just because I have over 240,xxx miles but now I am not sure if I should just keep it or get a 2023 3rd gen? Nothing wrong with my truck, just high mileage.

You could get 3rd gen V6 ( manual transmission also offered ) , or just 2.7L V4. I am happy I did now that I see what 4th looks like, a Chinese car toy made of plastic :D I can't blame them. For some reason all modern cars start to look like cheap plastic toys ( my 2023 tacoma also has plastic "chrome" bumper )

Just wanted to post this video. Its a Toyota guy who explains lots of stuff and gives good idea of features in new Tacoma. Although to me it still looks like Chinese plastic car toy :D even hood is no more steel.

So a lightweight hood that saves weight and fuel is bad?

My tank average mpg right now is 19. Mostly city driving. I wish it was 21.

The hood is stupid heavy on the third gen while still being soft enough to dent with light force. Why not shave some weight.

No, but fuel efficiency is a HUGE bonus, is it not obvious? Do you not like money in your pocket?

Yes, and it tows less because of that 1 MPG fuel economy and no more V6 either so it also loses torque.

It does make sick exhaust sound but not much under the hood. Almost like Tacoma is turning into sports car without engine. Reminds me new Supra compared to old one, lots of bark no biting

Chasing max tow ratings is useless. The third gen sucks to tow anything over 4000 pounds anyway, midsize trucks in general. Most owners would rather have increased payload. It also has more torque lower in the rpm band than the v6, not even including the hybrid.

Only in the U.S do we get screw over with low MPG. Trucks in the rest of the world get the same MPG as economy sedan. The Toyota Hilux has an average of 35MPG thanks to its turbo diesel engine.

In fact, if the Tacoma had the same engine and got 35MPG, I would have already owned a Tacoma as early as 2016. However, since the Tacoma is much weaker than a Hilux, most likely getting 40MPG instead.

Imagine not wanting improved MPG as a reason to get a new truck. Technology is supposed to move forward, not remain stagnant

Right, 1MPG difference will save you maybe 5$ a month

Reason for me to get a new truck is not sporty seats, sporty looks and sporty exhaust sound when the engine is literally potato itself. All the non related stuff to truck that adds like 10K-15K to total price, insane. Instead of all that garbage they could include accessories that are actually RELATED to truck.

This is not just with Taco obviously, the Camry,RAV4 look all sporty just so it can be embarrassed just by any muscle car. Taco just now joined the trend of plastic sporty looks. I am glad I got 3rd gen and I will be either keeping it, or might swap it to new gen 4runner if it looks all sick and solid like current gen is ( Literally Toyota that is still made in Japan for US market )

However, we all have to wait and see, maybe all the shiny plastic garbage will do the trick and keep crown on Tacoma.

Buy the 2024 and swap in a custom steel hood. Problem solved.

2024 also doesn't have hand break and has small potato engine which is turbo charged. When I hear small potato GASOLINE engines that are turbo charged I think of a squirl with cheetah's heart.

I understand turbo charged diesel engines because they are tough and all ( must be reason why Hilux has turbo charged DIESEL ) but shoving turbo into such a small gasoline engine is just... I think new 4Runner will have big ol' 4.0 ( or even bigger ) V6 engine and might even get Diesel, like land cruiser.
It has to, it kept 4.0 all along and there is no way they are putting something smaller and weaker IN THAT TRUCK made of trucky material.

Yes, this is Toyota and we buy them for capability and reliability, ( and off road performance ) and yes if I wanted trucks with big engines I could go Ford, Chevy, RAM but why Toyota cars have to lose their good old big engines that LAST long? so they can get MPG economy? lol.

We will have to wait and see what happens and how will turbo charged squirl performs.
