Done the 5100 few weekends ago, but before getting it aligned, decided to do it right and ordered the small spacer. Added a 1/2” lift spacer due to the driver side lean. Never notice the nuts on top of the strut hat has that white thing on the inside? See pic.

I may replace the it with regular nuts at a later time.

Can't tell by the picture, do you have a thread on the stud extending beyond the top of the nut?
I assume you are questioning if you have sufficient thread engagement?

Sorry, realize I wasn’t clear. Basically, was curious what that corrosion or something else that’s inside the nut?

seemed it’s like that from factory?

Just looks like a little corrosion, no biggie. Grab some new one at the dealer if it makes ya crazy and slap them on.

Thought you were wondering if it was like some kind of reverse nylock or something. Yeah it's just corrosion. Build up of a chalky white calcification of something or another due to that area trapping water but not actually making contact with anything.

Maybe look into getting nylon nuts that are shorter than the stock ones? As @winkel was stating about the thread, it looks real close

    Get new from your dealer.

Don't use nylon nuts to mount the shock. Nylon nuts have very very low strength.
Stainless steel is a weaker material than steel.

Nylock nuts come in a number of base materials. They're not all stainless steel. You are correct though in stating that SS is generally weaker.

    Agreed.

The nylock type steel nuts are very good resisting vibration and loosening. They are available in several grades. I would choose Grad 5 or 8.

There are nuts made of nylon. These are typically used in electrical or low strength situations.

The 1/4" spacer is what is typically used to correct the lean. This will correct a 1/2" lean. Using a 1/2" spacer on the driver's side with nothing on the passenger's side, will likely leave you higher on the driver's side. Typically when someone installs a 1/2" spacer on the driver's side, they will use a 1/4" on the passenger's side. This will result in a little lift, as well as correcting the 1/2" delta between driver, and passenger sides.
