Dunno why I'm just running into this but I love 395, have been going up and down that area for years, just came back from coyote flatts a few weeks ago

Midweek is definitely better but as we approach summer, even that will be busy.

Did you get a chance to see the closed runway at Coyote Flats, formerly the Army High Altitude Test Center?

    Hey TW Fam!

Hopefully I'm on the right thread but I'm trying to go explore HWY 395 during Memorial Day weekend May 29-31 toward Alabama Hills and Reward Mines.

I'm 100% sure it's going to be super packed by the time I get there Saturday morning and if I can't find a spot to post camp for the 2 nights, do you guys have any suggestions on where to find another dispersed camping spot?

I'll be traveling from OC with my Tacoma 4x4 and my cousin Subaru Crosstrek (stock). Pretty much trying to find a Plan B spot if Alabama Hills doesn't work out. (We are willing to travel an hour for dispersed camping, as we will be prepared)

Any info/suggestions would be appreciated. (If you know a spot and don't mind sharing coordinates that would be even better )

The only times I've stayed near Alabama Hills it's been on the ground, inside the caboose parked in a friend of a friend's backyard in Keeler, or nearer to Death Valley or Bishop.

Alabama Hills falls in a new permit scheme. You’ll want to check that out.

I've camped at that spot. Were there lots of ants on the ground?

Had a dusting of snow the last time I was there. Didn't see a lot of ants at the time.

I watch some of his videos—good stuff. We were at Cerro Gordo a few months before he bought it. When we do go back we’ll make sure to bring supplies he needs. Not a lot of time or physical strength to volunteer.

Hummm ... no ants or camping for us. We were checking out some of the mines in the area.

That's badass. I would love to camp there sometime.
Is there a way to contact him to see what he needs?
