We were backpacking in Los Padres NF and woke up to canon fire once. Turns out Tankers get up pretty early for artillery practice.

i, personally find your reports to be super interesting - enough to want to follow in your footsteps, with some breadcrumbs you leave of where - and have made me explore a bit further for areas i know a little bit as well. so i would say - thanks

I can't wait to get back up there come fishing season and once shit calms down. Everyone said the Owen's was slammed for fishing last time I was up and I literally saw 2 people in 10 hours of fishing, but the crowds at little lakes valley were insane. Had to show up to the parking lot at 530 and there were maybe 6 or 7 free parking spots.

that's because it's flat from the high trailhead to the lakes. go anywhere that requires 1000 feet ascent and you'll have it to yourself!

Exactly. Go 5 miles in with 5000' of gain and you'll be at one of the best fishing spots in the Sierra. You'll also be alone 98.5% of the time. All my favorite spots are hard to get too and all of them hold large Goldens.

I'm still salty that my only golden was a borderline fingerling and my friend caught a solid ~12-14" on his second or third cast. Hoping COVID calms down so I can travel up there without being an asshole and that the fire doesn't keep too much closed.

shutting down the mountains to stop covid never made any sense to me!

It's not the mountains that give you COVID.

The problem is people from out of town come in and spread COVID among the local population. It's one thing to drive somewhere and be self sufficient in your travels but most are hitting up the small town shops, grocery stores, and restaurants.

Great mind set man and thank you for considering COVID's impact on small towns. I'm so stoked with it that I'll give you any details you want on local fishing as soon as this shit passes. Maybe we can meet up and I can show you around a bit in a few months. Offers a serious one. Shoot me a PM anytime.

Best Jerkey on the East Side(possibly the US). Best sandwiches in Bishop. Potato salad is a solid 8/10. Next time you go get a Rodeo with Extra Bacon. I swear they put a whole pound of bacon on it. Kicker is they don't charge you anymore.

    Just the basics
I'm still waiting to see the covid spikes in the middle east following the huge gatherings of unmasked humans in close proximity following their new years parties. But that's for a different forum to discuss.

Mmmm making me want Copper Top, Mahogany Meats, and my two usual bakery stops. A new recent discovery at Schats is garlic cheese focaccia bread. You're welcome.
