Anyone know the road conditions around Bridgeport and mono right now? I know it’s still freezing at night but wondering if the trails are dry, muddy or snowy looking to go up end of the month for a few nights. May just end up in mammoth closer to Bishop for mule days…

    Snowing again in mammoth now
I was at Mono Lake and Bodie this last weekend
Pretty dry in the Mono Lake area
Could not drive from Bodie to Bridgeport- snow banks still on the road
Could not drive from Green Creek to Virginia Lakes- snow still on the road
Mostly free of snow but when you hit it you aren’t going to make it all the way through
My experience was you would high center or slide off the side
Needs some more sun and time to freely wheel about

Should be. Wyman had a lot of water when I went thru last summer. The trail crosses the water about 25 times, I lost count. But I did not remember, or expect for the river to become the trail in one downhill section.

Just be prepared for water and have good maps

    Wildfire evacuations near Independence.

"UPDATE: The evacuation order will remain throughout the night, will reassess conditions in the morning, and post an update. Wildfire above Independence. Evacuation of Upper and Lower Grays Meadow Campgrounds and Seven Pines in progress. Avoid the area."

It's always a hit or miss with posting links from FB if a preview of the link shows, or just the link only..

I know! It's crazy. Sometimes preview, sometimes not.

I just hope the folks in Independence are back to normal soon.

It's on Spotify...I had to start with the first desert region I ever regretted having ill thoughts about...29 Palms. Very funny episode about the lovely area that contains Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Rah!

Heading up to Rock Creek Lake in about 3 weeks for some camping, fishing, relaxing. Going to explore some of the June loop lakes one of the days. Any easy fire road trails between Tom's Place and Mammoth? Might wanna find some dirt, maybe a half day trip.

Forget June Lake Loop sightseeing. Although it is pretty spectacular. Bring a float tube and put in at the SW end of Silver. Rush Creek comes in on the SE corner. Kick over that way. On your way you'll see a huge weed bed. Once you get to the SE corner kick about 75' off the weed bed. Throw mini-jigs to edge of weed bed. Profit.

I was even more surprised to see it in the new books section of my public library here in Maryland last year! Entertaining storytelling.
