So did you sample any of the mountain meats on offer?
As usual, it didn't take. One does not simply ban The Unbannable.

I wouldn't presume such familiarity. Stating a fact, nothing more.

    Gentlemen

My 70 year old dad bailed off the 5th step of his step ladder pruning some bushes for my mom , landed on his head on the asphalt .

He / We got lucky , he got a concussion , but no broken bones

Pretty good sized lacerations on his head , elbow and leg

No kidding. Lots of people aren't so lucky. I hope he heals back to 100%. I'm not afraid of heights and ladders, but I'm very careful.

My dad's about the same age as yours, but he does the same kind of work as you solo, and I worry about him taking a dump from a ladder or overheating. He finally started using a harness and rope when working on the roof of his three story house, but he still doesn't ask for help. He needs one or two new knees, but doesn't want to spend the time or money for the surgery. I expect to get a call about a fall before long.

Watching Ricky Bobby do his thing. I wonder how many NASCAR folks realize it's not a documentary.

Oh god. Did they do an MRI? My dad will be 80 in 2 weeks. Every day I'm worried he's going to set the house on fire.

Boat same one I'm in--mine fell on his butt in FLA over Christmas (an inexplicable loss of balance) then just recently slipped on a rug and fell in his lady friend's bathroom. He's also going to be 89 this December...good luck with your Dad Oz

My dad still works everyday at the ranch, SO many things can fuck you up at the ranch, every machine could maim or kill you! This was his latest mistake, trying to cut firewood into these perfect pieces for the stove, he was working on a 36" buzzsaw, powered by the pto from our 100hp tractor, with a carbide tipped blade. A fraction of an inch more and his finger would have been gone. The blade took off his knuckle cap, and just hit the bone, taking off his tendon. Had surgery to replace tendon, pretty much succesful.

Just had a thought for a new thread.

    Dumb shit our parents do.

Given the spread between what 16 yo punks think is dumb (OMG, grounded me for setting the school on fire) versus issues we are dealing with for our aging parents (OMG, dad almost burned down the house because he had a grease fire in the barbecue under the patio cover), it could be kind of amusing, and perhaps even eye-opening for the whippersnappers.
