Honestly I think it’s purely wheel speed. I’ve not been able to duplicate the anomaly mentioned in either stock tires or 35s with 5.29s.

First tank report, 16.05mpg with 33's mixed city and back roads. Still have 100 miles of break in. I was getting 13-14mpg before.

Are we still talking about Tacoma gearing? I have no choice but to stick with what the Lord gave me...

Edit: general rule for 3rd gen. 4.88 for 32-33s and 5.29 for 34-35+.

Sorry. What gearing do you have? If you have 5.29s you basically have the highest gear set available. Unless you get a custom axle and go 5.71 and bigger than 35s

Have my appointment at Nitro Gears/Just Differentials tomorrow. Can't wait to see what I've been missing lol! I'm on 34's BTW if that makes any difference.

I made it through 20 pages but has there been anyone reviewing the 2nd gen 5AT with 5.29s?
I think this chart is correct for RPMs with 37 in tires

    1st Gear 12 mph 2029rpm
    2nd Gear 20 mph 1960rpm
    3rd Gear 30 mph 2018rpm
    4th Gear 45 mph 2162rpm
    5th Gear 70 mph 2388rpm

I never go over 70 really so if these numbers are to believed i will probably go with the 5.29 gear. Im pretty sure i have the 8.4 non e lock diff so everything should still be pretty strong.
How easy is the ECGS prebuilt one? Is it really just unbolt, line it up and rebuilt the new one in?

My 5.29s are still sitting in the garage in the box... :(

Decided to wait till OVtune comes out with his adaptive cruise control update and the 5.29 specific tune. :annoyed:

IS THAT JUST A BEAUTY RING? OR IS IT ACTUALLY A BEADLOCK? OMF'S WEBSITE IS "IN CONSTRUCTION" IT SEEMS, NO PRICING, NO DEALER LISTS.... just wondering, cause those look killer, but most states beadlocks are not road legal/DOT approved... I live in Maine http://www.liftlaws.com/maine_lift_laws.htm says theres no restrictions for rims/wheel in my state, but I believe if i leave the state, and have beadlocks on my truck.. I will be subject to that states laws.. just dont want to get in deep with the POPO's....

I think fake locks have become so popular the only person that will care is an inspector when you try to register it

    Thanks! They are real.

Laws regarding beadlocks are often misunderstood. Beadlocks are not illegal in any state and DOT is not an approving agency. DOT set the standards, rules and regulations and products are built to them and tested for compliance. Beadlocks are often not tested for DOT compliance however states do not have laws requiring DOT compliant wheels.

Utah is the only state that requires SAE J2530 compliance during registration, which means they can be swapped after registration.

Why does it look like you're wearing a mask straight out of the move "The Town"? Are you planning on robbing the gears?
