I can agree that it is a little obnoxious. That being said I can relate to Brock and say that I associate it with power... So I tolerate it :)

Cruising down the highway I can hardly hear the blower

And 100% of those of us that are blown, get a little chubbie everytime that noisy whiny bitch sounds off..........#8PSI:D

Yeah, but like I said I have been in both gens with boost and just don't care for it, though if I did have it, I wouldn't be complaining about the extra power! haha

I'm looking for more power than what the TRD S/C puts out though. I don't think 350 HP will be enough for my 6K+ lb rig in the dunes. Sure it will be more than enough in all other aspects of wheeling, but I gotta keep up with those sand rails! haha I've noticed that URD is now installing stroker kits and sleeves onto the 1GR-FE with a 3 month turnaround. So when the time comes that is likely the route I will go and either run a turbo, or URD's S/C kit with a larger blower than what the MK3 comes with.

I've been thinking about that too actually. My truck hasn't been running hot or anything but this hot summer has had me see 190s on my UG and me no likey that. :|

190's is fine. When I get out wheeling I'm getting up into the 210's... I burn a lot of oil running around on the interstate and in the dunes during the summer when the ambient temp is in the 90's and 100's... With my 4.88's and 33's I run about 2800 rpm on the freeway and around the dunes I spend most of my time over 4500 rpm. Mix that with high ambient temps (and AC) and my oil starts to disappear... Just like this build thread that is being taken over... Sorry Brock...

I don't know that he minds.
    He'a pretty awesome

I definitely see you needing it if you've used any oil on hot stressful days.

That being said, i've seen no oil usage with mine. So i guess i'm just paranoid

UR ok.............. as the tstat is opening, its bound to get a lil warmer until the system cools more. I avg 186-190 on the highway in 90-100 degree weather. Unless going up a grade or hauling, then it goes up, but 190 is perfectly fine.... remember, u dont want things to be too cold or its just gunna cost more fuel.

I dont mind 1 bit..... BS all ya want.... questions and concerns need to be addressed anyhow.

    like............... ur burning oil right?

Ive heard with the URD kit, u cant get to the dipstick........ is this true?

I indeed dont mind...............and yesssir ur temps are perfectly fine

Don't know where the hell else it's going. haha It's not leaking it. I drove down to Moab (about 400 miles for me) pulling a small trailer stacked high with wood making it as aerodynamic as a brick. I could certainly feel it at freeway speeds. Well mix that with the new 80mph speed limits in Utah and me playing catch up and I was short a quart of oil by the time I got to Moab. In the 9 days I was down there wheeling in the hot temps I burned up another quart. Pulled the trailer back home (now empty) at the same 80 mph and couldn't tell it was there anymore and I didn't burn a drop of oil. Drive it around for a few months and the oil stays at full still. Go to the dunes for a weekend and rod it around for hours and hours and I burned up a couple quarts, 1 per day. Bring it back home and just cruise around and no oil lost.

Like I said, no signs of leaking and the catch can seems to be functioning just fine. I talked with Tor about it and he thinks it is related to the heat the engine sees. Pretty sure my whole 2 days out in the dunes the temp never got below 205. So I'll try out the thermostat and if it doesn't help, well it will eventually when I get some boost I guess:notsure:

Combinations of high ambient temps, high coolant temps, long durations of high RPMs - which in turn increases AT fluid temps, which circles back to high coolant temps, since they share the same radiator, high engine loads due to sand and weight of truck, which all then leads to more stress on the oil and more oil vapors.

The cooler T-stat will help it cool down further, and start the circulation sooner. That will keep the engine temps cooler longer. Which if given the chance to cool down between mobbing sessions, will save the oil. I can bet your oil temps were very near 300*. Which is near liquefied.

Another set of parts to consider would be a oil cooler, oem or aftermarket, and an additional transmission cooler. As well as an temp gauge, if you do plan on doing making it a full habit of going out there. I have the perfect place for a sensor as well. ;)
