Wonder if you could buy the uconn without all that other shit. I'd only want the 170 thermostat. They can keep the rest. I don't want my motor spinning to 6200 and me constantly being worried about it flying apart on me :(

I should probably just visit URD and ask my noob questions

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
It would be sooooo much nicer if we had a flashable map solution via OBD port....like the Cobb AccessPorts for Subies, Evos, Mazdas, GTR's etc. I'm personally not a fan of piggyback ECU's after running a TXS UTEC on my STi it was good for CONSISTENCY since it basically had the factory ECU on lock, but it was terrible for being able to adapt to seasonal atmospheric changes like a reprogrammed(reflashed) factory ecu could do. At that point I'd rather run a full on aftermarket ECU or run a reflashed factory ECU with full speed density support(ie: no more MAF sensor on inlet tube for turbo). I really thought we had something really close with that BullyDog unit, but apparently the company itself hasn't been on its feet completely. One day.....*sigh*

Even if the Ucon was available for 2009+, I personally wouldn't even touch it.

sure there is, you can just get a proper turbo car to feed your addiction. :D

That said, with any aftermarket piggyback/standalone/stock ecu reflash, the setup will only be as potent/safe as the tuner behind the laptop. In the case of the UCON, it's only going to be as optimal as the nearest reputable tuner in your radius. "E-Tuning" can be done successfully, but datalogging (IMO) is a royal pain in the fuggin ass.

Datalog ---> send to tuner ---> tuner adjusts map and emails you ---> upload modified map ---> datalog & watch for knock(among other things) --->is it good? Cool // is it still running funny? Rinse & repeat the whole thing.

^^^I lived that life for 10 months until I fed up and yanked it off the car and went for a proper dyno tune and factory ECU reflash. I've got a custom reflash on my other money pit that's been running flawlessly for 9 years. Before that, the piggyback I had on it, even after being dyno tuned by the same calibrator(tuner), was more temperamental than a hungry 2 year old. Trying to get a piggyback to play nice when it's faced with forced induction and 91 piss octane is for people who LOVE to roll around with laptops all year making fine adjustments/data logging with changes in seasons, NOT for "set it and forget it" people like me lol. There are people who swear by them for AND good reason at that!!, just not for me personally. It's either full standalone[aka go big or go home] or custom tuned factory ecu reflash for me. Needless to say, I'm over piggybacks unless it's my girlfriend. :D

There are a shitload of phenomenal tuners out here in Cali, and I'm sure I could find one willing to work with me to optimize the brains of my setup.......................but, it's a truck/MY truck and it cooks just fine without the hassle or me wanting more out of it. :)

Too bad I can't say the same for the money pit sitting in my garage currently.
