I'm sorry to hear that you got injured. I hope you heal up properly! Great looking '88 truck that's in great shape cosmetically/mechanically and the mods are useful & nice. My friend had a truck like yours that he bought new in the late '80s which was the inspiration to buy my '99 Tacoma. Thanks for sharing the news & pictures of your truck purchase.

Surgery was on July 10. Half way to being able to walk again! In celebration I ordered a softopper for it. I’ll put pics up once I get it installed next week.

I had a 86 "Blue Rocket" 22R Automatic for a couple years, It was already a rust bucket when I got it and it kept blowing the head gasket.... :(

This engine will get rebuilt when I can recover financially from a wedding and broken leg. Runs great but not perfect. I want perfect.

Hahaha, always heard a good truck could do that. Now that I have this rust free truck I doubt I will ever want to sell it. Things come up, but I’m going to fight to keep it forever.

I could only find one picture on the webs showing a softopper on an 84-88 Toyota Pickup. Hope this helps someone else who may be looking.

    Initial thoughts:
I’ve owned the bestop brand version on my Tacoma and now the softopper on this pickup. There are features I like better about each brand but the versatility and cool factor are high on both. Of all the bed covers, tonneau/fiberglass/etc.., the tops like this have always worked best for my needs.

Definitely was. That was as far as I wanted to drive that day. My buddy and I ate at a brewery/taco place that was great!

More signs of head gasket failure. The o2 sensor had pink coolant char on it (picture doesn’t show it well). No big deal, the new engine project starts on the 9th.

Black 15x10 soft 8’s. Not exactly sure I like the black wheels on this truck but the tires are much happier on 10” wide wheels vs the 8” chrome wheels.
