Ha the wife put a birthday het on her when she turned one, the look she had on her face was that of a shamed dog, but she enjoyed the heck out of her "birthday cake"

Nope, floorless design. You can either bring a tarp for the ground, use a bivy, or the company sells "nests" which adds a floor and internal mosquito netting for half of the tent. I have painters tarp/plastic but just used the wool blanket since it was gonna be a dry night.

Its really nice to just walk into the tent and not worry about taking your boots on and off. Also great for dogs since they always manage to find mud and water.

I miss a few things about the RTT but they don't outweigh the cons for me. The tipi is going to take longer to set up. You can move quick but its hard to beat something you just unzip. Its probably similar to setting up the rtt and annex. I also miss the ability to pack your bedding in the tent. I miss the bed just a little bit too but I think a low profile cot will be more than enough for me.

Its gonna be awesome in the summer when I can just set camp and leave it.

I'm really digging the Tepee and the floorless design. With a new energetic puppy, it's looking like the best way to go.

For whatever reason Ash is not a huge fan of the tipi. He's cautious about entering and is quick to get out. That night though I think he got used to it and began liking it. I woke up a bit chilled and he managed to take most of my sleeping pad and bag so I started the stove again. The next time I woke up he was snoozing in front of the stove and enjoying the warmth.

the shot with the sunlit rocks in the backdrop is nice!!

It's a weird shaped den compared to what he's used to haha, just gotta spend more time in it im sure and he'll have no problem.

Yeah, I'm gonna try and get out more often so he gets used to it. I think a lot of it is the stove. He has never liked fire but he sure did enjoy the heat after a cold night haha.

Nice pics Gage! That night shot actually turned out pretty good for our camera/lense setup. I've noticed the Sigma doen't perform all that great in low light. I've been trying to play with it some more in low light conditions to figure out what it likes. I love that one with the moon up in the corner poking out of the blue sky.

I have had good results with the sigma. It does really well for night shots. Switching to manual focus will help some since the AF has trouble at night but thats expected. Focus peaking FTMFW.

I took this one last year, I just forgot my remote this last trip :(

I got it used as a packaged deal with the tent. It's a seekoutside medium stove. If I were to have have bought one new I would have went with TIgoat for a backpacking one and a ThreeDog if all I was going to use it for was truck camping.

Yup! I was reading up on those a few days ago. I want a bigger and airtight (or as close as possible) stove for truck camping. The little backpacking one did rather well though. You would have to stoke it about once an hour to keep heat. Lit right up too. All I did was toss in some dead grass, a pine cone on top of that and then a few twigs. Tossed a match and closed the door. Opened it a few minutes later and stuffed it full. Didn't even have to leave my sleeping bag in the morning :)

Also, feel free to Bs, answer questions or just link awesome articles in here. I like a good discussion :). I want to get into more DIY projects related to camping. I have been studying up on how to make the tipis and might attempt to make a larger one over the summer.

AF is probably my problem then. I'll try MF next time I'm out.

Yeah, unless you light up the object it can be hard to get it to focus. Otherwise you just need a tripod and a remote so you dont shake the camera at all when taking a longer exposure shot.
