This is a rough go brother, 2017's stink just hasn't left you alone. Your composure, on here at least has been great , it suck when stuff like this happens when all you're trying to do is get by... When this all passes and things get 'back to normal' you will find that this will be a great story to talk about over a beer, remembering all the fun and trials that babyT created.

I'm thinking everything is fine. The truck runs great (no chain noise at all any more) and no power loss. If it wasn't for the leaking oil, I wouldn't know. Is there a way I could maybe "patch" that hole for now? We got a lead on a few new houses with shops last night from locals. I would prefer to not rush into this fix, especially if I can't get that dodge registered in the next week or so.

Ya know, life settled down for about 1 week recently. Well, I just quit giving a crap that week. It was really boring.

We will have plenty of stories of this damn truck. Especially if I keep it around.

JB-weld. clean the surfaces really well, but it always seems to work for instances like these where there isn't something hitting it, just oil splash. If it is small enough you could probably get away with RTV (gasket maker) gob it on there and go! <-- (once it fully dries) If the RTV comes off then you know something is hitting the case, and you have a bigger problem, but then again both of these fixes are temporary until you drop in the 'new' used engine or get the Mopar all sorted out.

Yeah, I just want to plug it and see if that's where the oil is leaking from. If it is coming from somewhere else I would just pay the shop to drop an engine in. I don't want to be leaking oil all over. Poor fish.

Dropped it off at the mechanic and told them to help me find a "temp" fix and start searching for an engine. They said labor alone is $1800 so I will probably try to get my new friend here to help me pull it to save some pennies.

I saw that my coolant was low and could see it crusted around the head gasket. I am sure the timing cover hole is a problem but I think that's only a symptom to a much bigger issue. I keep thinking that we overlooked a problem in the block. Hopefully that can give me an idea of the actual damage by the end of the day.

They found a much larger hole in my timing cover. Soooo new engine :/ and no simple fixes. They quoted me at $4500 for the $1900 engine and a few parts that should be replaced at the same time.

Let's hope. He's gone for a week. As a fun side note, I lost my wallet today in the process of all this madness. It's been a stressful week.

I think I'll be cracking a beer open tonight .

My only concern is that I'd want to know what came out of that hole, and did it happen recently, or prior to your initial engine problems. I can't in my right mind think that someone would have put the engine back together with that there.

Going to look at a house tonight that we are likely to put an offer on. Small recently updated 2 bed 1 bath with a detached 1 car (slightly bigger) garage. Big lot that will need fenced. It's for sale by owner and we are currently the only ones in the running so hopefully we can make a deal that benefits both of us.

I wish it had a bigger garage but there is plenty of room to build onto it or replace it with a shop in the future if we decide it's a good fit for us.

We found the house we want. Just a hair over 800 sqft. It's small but the space is plenty for 2 people. It sits on a big lot with mature fruit trees (free cherries and plums, oh my). The garage isn't ideal, but the owner managed to work on his F250 in there. Just enough room to pull an engine . It's hard to describe but it's one of those places you just feel comfortable and cozy in, yet the small size makes you want to get outside and enjoy the day.

Called them last night to make sure they wanted to sell it and let them know we are ready to put down an offer. We are meeting them tonight for one last look at the house before handing them the actual offer. I doubt they will refuse the offer so the only hold up may be the VA loan appraisal process :fingerscrossed:

:woot: We are proceeding to close on this place. Sooner than we thought. The owner wants to finish closer to mid April.
