Haven’t been on TW much anymore, so I apologize if this has been discussed in recent time. Do you still use the Seek Outside tipi? If so, how is it holding up? I’m looking at picking up the 6 man w/ stove for elk camp this year, and would love some insight on their product. Pros/cons.

I haven't camped much this past year. I loved the tent and really loved it when solo elk hunting since it gave me a lot of room and a place to dry my clothes with the stove. Idaho has been different. Most everything is on an steep gradient so I have moved to using a hammock. I might better plan my elk camp this summer to allow for the tipi though. I wouldn't hesistate for Colorado.

Any problems with condensation from your experience? That’s seems to be my only concern. I see they now offer a half liner which is intended to address the issue. Is the tent itself sealed at the base? I’ve always been curious about staking and wind/water run on in that regard.

Given the cost/quality, I can see it being my go-to for camping year round.

Not really, nothing out of the norm. A quick fire in the morning took care of any condensation I have had. I fit 3 grown men into my 4 man comfortably (for sleeping) in cold weather and don't remember the condensation being unbearable. Then again I don't think much of small things like that. It might be a non issue for me and a deal breaker for another :notsure:

The base is not sealed (unless you order it that way). I have slept in some heavy rain, snow and sleet. If the ground was dry when I put it down, it was dry when I packed it up. If it was raining I just set up the tent, got the fire going and it would dry the grass inside pretty quick too. There is a guy selling his on here, you should check it out. I'll see if I can tag him.

@markm0311 is selling a 4 man, so probably not what you are looking for. He can give you some feed back on this as well though.

It's a fantastic option for camping and hunting and yes I do have a lightly used 4 man for sale. That being said, no matter what size you are looking for, I can definitely provide some insight as to what would fit you and your endeavors best!

Thanks a ton, gents! I only brought up condensation as we ran into a couple of guys during our 4th season elk hunt who had a Kifaru tipi. They expressed that it was a predominant problem, and acully steered me towards Seek Outside.

As for size, I’m thinking the six man is ideal because of all the shit we haul into camp - also, when not hunting, I’d like to use it for the ol lady, son, and two dogs. Mark, the deal on your four man is very hard to pass up, though!

I'd love to sell my 4 man to compensate for the cost of the courthouse, but honestly if you have two dogs and a wife and kid a six man would be great. The 4 man would be too tight in my opinion.

As far as condensation goes I don't know that you can get away from that with most tents.

I would go six man for sure because you can set it up on a 4 man foot print still for solo hunts. My buddy had an 8 man and that would be truly been ideal for car camping and family. The foot print is so large that you have to have a plan on where you put it. Out here in Idaho, the forest is so dense and tightly packed that finding an adequate spot for the 4 man is difficult haha.

There wasn't much for me to do there. The road was fine all the way and quickly turned into a sheet of ice. It was a straight section of the road. I barely gave it some gas and the ass end flew out. It was one of those "really?" moments. I just went a long for the ride at the point. I did a full 360, crossed lanes and nailed the sign. When I was waiting for the police I saw another truck slide off and a another car was fish tailing. About 6 miles up the road a semi did the same thing.

I'm probably going to stop by another shop and get a quote to get BabyT fixed. I'm tired of not having my truck and I want to sell this turd of a dodge.

yeah hate those moments. Honestly thats a very fixable dent. Could have been a lot worse.

If you have a shop do a new motor swap, that won't be cheap no matter what.

It's not going to be cheap either way. The only good thing about having a shop do it is a warranty and receipts for when I sell it. If it screws up, I just drop it off and let them sort it out.

I just really don't have the time I wish I had. We plan to move to the new place April 20th and then it's a sprint to get the get everything ready for the wedding finished. Not to mention small projects around the house (like building a fence for the dogs). It's looking more like I'll either pay for the engine swap or wait until mid - late July to do it myself.

I don't want to ruin my summer because my truck is out of commission. It's bringing a lot of stress to my life and I just want to put it behind me.

Well, Ash tore his paws up playing fetch yesterday. Otherwise they are doing well. Everyone is excited for them to have a yard again.
