Spoke with a shop yesterday. They are suggesting a reman given the price of used engines. The shop they prefer to use offers a 5 year parts and labor warranty. I'm nervous to do another reman given my experience with the shop in Laramie. This time it won't be a "favor" and it won't be as messy to deal with getting things fixed. I plan to be here 5 years so its not likely I will end up in a situation like I am in now where I can't even take the truck back to the shop.

Any thoughts? I have never heard/seen a 5 year warranty in all of my searches. Most used engines come with a 6 month warranty on parts, but not labor. So if I got a shit engine I would be paying to have it pulled (unless I did it myself, but that tends to void said warranty).

you didn't do a reman last time. You just tried to fix the motor i thought..

I've never heard of that either, usually its a year warranty from shops. Most motors have a 30day warranty from where ever you get it. But if they are willing to stand by that, get it in writing and go for it.

That's my error, rebuild. Need more coffee this morning :pccoffee:. I need to speak with the shop directly to understand their warranty better, but the mechanic I spoke with comes highly recommended from locals so I trust him when he says that they are a good shop to work with.

I mean if they have the warrenty in writing, and have been a long standing shop, I think you would be fairly safe. Given the event something goes wrong you can go back after them unless they suddenly close up shop.

Then again im still on the drop in a diesel/LS option lol

Ha! I'm still leaning towards setting this POS on fire. Still cheaper to fix this truck than to buy a used one.

Well the loan was officially approved. We could close next weekend but we wanted to push it back to 4/20 (we didn't pick that date intentionally, I swear).

Quite awhile ago I read (on line) some old FS literature about the beaver drops; there were photos but no videos. If my mind isn't playing tricks on, the book was about a specific ranger rather the beaver.

Lizzy and I watched Fastest Car on Netflix last night. Pretty cool show and a fun watch. Halfway through the first episode she looked at me and said "can we please build a trophy truck? Can you promise me we will do that at some point in our life?"

Guess I won't need to ask permission to beef up BabyT in the future. Winner winner chicken dinner.

I don't want to end up like @45acp and have a never ending project. I'll keep putting pennies away. Might as well start with the suspension after the engine is fixed.

meh. Doing it in chunks makes it do able. Doing a motor swap doesn't mean it would never get done haha

I know that if I had ended up with BabyTaco...Id have not gone full race truck, but I'd probably go for the +2 kit from TC or Solo and TC rear kit or DMZ rear kit.

Or DD +3.5 kit with spindles and DMZ rear kit or DD Daily Link kit for real go fast stuff.

    OR

Solo XLT kit and 4 link the rear to satisfy your womens need of trophy truck haha

Lol, I'll never go full race truck. We use the bed to much and we would never push it to that limit. I will build her up so Lizzy can have fun going faster on dirt roads. I think another Land Cruiser will come before we drop some money into BabyT (after the engine).

well then the first setup i mentioned would be good.

Though The DMZ bed cage takes up VERY little room. Would be worth it I think.

Some day... I'd like to go spring under and extend my pelfry kit into the bed to run 2.5 or 3" fatties into the bed but kepk it functional. My rear end can't keep up with my front even as it is now. Dmz is pretty solid deal.

Id just get the bed cage. It really isn't very intrusive at all and pulls 16'' i think or so. Well worth it.

wish i had as many options

For you since you still sleep in the bed, looks like a nice book shelf add on for the flash light haha

Could buy some ABS sheets and mold covers over the bumps and most the shock. Rubber boot on the rest of the shock and rivet it all in. Be nice.

I've thought of getting a 2nd gen in the last year as you can tell :anonymous:
