:woot: Scholarship refund was processed and taxes where filed. Time to feel comfortable with my back account again .

No word on the truck. They said it would be looked at today for an hour to determine if there is actually a problem. Should be as quick as turning it on and getting smoked out of the shop. I am dreading the call...might let it go to voicemail haha.

No word yet. Probably waiting for the manufacturer approval for warranty work. They also had some recall on my truck that they wanted to fix while there so they might be waiting for parts.

Ok, well the Toyota here in Laramie made some official documents showing that I have modified the air intake system and went as far as to say there was water being sucked into the engine. This essentially means I can't take it to any dealer to try warranty because they can readily pull up those documents. Luckily they have not done anything to the truck so I am not paying their stupid $115 "diagnostic fee". Picking up the truck tomorrow and crying the 45 minute drive back.

I am not mad at toyota. I modified the vehicle knowing that if something happened I was likely to be on my own. Certainly sucks that this has happened but nothing I can do about it now but fix the truck.

Time to start planning the best way to fix the truck.

I do. I removed the fender liner which allowed the intake to suck dirt, snow, and whatever else got kicked up there. I soon after put in a replacement liner I made that fixed that issue. A year later I start having this problem, take it to the dealer and they promptly remind me that I have dust in my air box and an aftermarket liner that voids my warranty.

I would think that they need to prove that water got sucked in

Yeah, and they can by opening the engine up and showing me the water/dirt damage. Only problem with that is that it will only be warrantied if they can't prove it. However, if I am unlucky enough that water/dirt did enter the engine then they can/will not allow my truck to leave the dealer until it is in working condition...aka me bending over and taking a 10k bill for an engine rebuild from the dealer.

He contacted me last night saying another buyer has shown interest but didn't want to sell to them because they were lowballing. I told him I would contact him as soon as I knew it wasn't covered by toyota. Haven't heard since but I sent an email a few minutes ago with the update.

Contacting the Colorado guys that offered help to see if any of them may have a shop that is better suited for this project. I would be so grateful if I could get a helping hand in this project. Good company makes wrenching a lot more fun.

While figuring things out I decided to put pressure on the dealers from above. It probably won't solve anything but it gives me a chuckle to make them jump through hoops. I called the toyota regional office in denver and they were awesome to talk to. They gave me the proper steps to take and what to expect. Ill be calling the toyota hotline after I get back from the gym and have calmed down a bit.

So I didn't read back far enough soo your engine is smoking ? Low on power ? Compression? I just found out my air filter is getting damp and dirty from the 35's ordered a snorkel though...

Tons of blue smoke from exhaust until it warms up and likely the cause of a bad piston ring. Spark plug in 4th cylinder is oil fouled really bad causing misfires. PCV valve is constantly clogging from leaking oil and causing further oil consumption. Compression test on the 4th cylinder showed 90 psi and increased with a cap full of oil. The other 3 cylinders are at 120 psi. The snorkel should help keep your air box clean and dry.

I dont know for sure that is what caused the problems. Thats what the dealership is saying. Lots of guys have went 35s and do far more water crossings/mud than I encountered.

True.. my filter is actually getting wet and had some mud on it. Which is why I panicked and bought the snorkel and have cancelled two wheeling trips this weekend till I'm certain it won't become an issue again. It could be a combination of things, did you look into the valve issue, I saw somewhere they were doin a service campaign for the 2trfe but only certain years
