I'd keep it. It's handy for our trips. But tipi might suit you for the fishing trips more..

 

I do want one at some point, the convenience of them is pretty tough to beat.

 

Photo Dump! Ive been slacking on Ash's 4-5 month pics so I took him out for the afternoon . We went and scouted a river nearby that I like to fish and walked a dirt road a bit. Then I decided to stop by the dog park on the way home and glad I did! He got to play around with a massive spanish mastiff.

I am back in school. Looks like I have 3 semester left before I graduate...where did the time go!?

As far as updates go...sold the RTT finally. Just paid a guy for a Seek Outside 4 man tipi with wood burning stove. Pretty stoked about that and should be here next week. I cut my bed rack up to have more open bed space for my dog and organize better. The truck isn't getting any future mods as far as I know right now. If I come across a cheap shell some how I will probably jump on it. Otherwise the next mod I want is front and rear bumpers.

Did you get him a Carhart?

 

Basically what it is haha. It has a fleece lining and keeps him pretty warm. I got it mostly to block the bone chillin wind.

nah, that one would be to small to do it with. I'd say at least a 6 man but preferably a 8 man.

 

Helping people on here and talking to the fine Folk of TacomaWorld are my stress relief man. This year and last year have been by far the two most stressful and ridiculous for me to date.

I sure hope everything is working out well for you bud. Pup is looking healthy and happy I am glad to see!

 

What you use for a ground cloth in the tipi? I've always either used a more traditional tent, just a tap or my hammock. Never a floorless setup.

 

TW normally disappears once I get super stressed haha.

I'll probably get a bivy in the future for backpacking and a cot for truck camping. They make a "nest" which encloses half of the tipi with mosquito netting and a floor. A lot of guys just have a light piece of plastic to lay on the ground or carry a small tarp. Wyoming isn't a super wet place and with proper site selection I don't see being floorless that big of a headache.

That being said, one thing I have always hated about modern tents is the bathtub floors. I hate crawling halfway in, sitting down and taking off my boots. With the tipi you just walk in and chill out till bed. It's near impossible to keep a dogs feet clean as well. With the stove going to can run a line and dry off wet clothes and put your boots next to the stove to dry as well.

 

That bathtub design is great when it's raining outside and the bottom seam is off the ground. You're supposed to use the vestibule for taking off wet shoes. If I'm truck camping I have a little green astro-turf mat that I take with me that I leave out there for such things.
