There are something like 3 places for bolts on each side of the bumper. The top one comes in at an angle. It really isn't there to hold the bumper up so Tyler @Pelfreybilt said to remove it. This allowed the rest of the mounting locations to push up a bit more. I still need to drill out the holes jsut a hair to get it how I want. Maybe this summer when I pull the armor for paint.

    Weekend is almost here!

Plans for the weekend include...homework :pout:. Going to try to prep the truck a bit for the engine swap since some of the people coming expressed their feelings about it not being a quick job if I don't start now. For those of you coming, expect it to not be fully prepped .

Also, I can finally register bruiser tomorrow. Gonna be nice to have a vehicle to run errands when needed.

I think I understand. Thanks for the reply! Definitely eyeing this bumper for a replacement of the stock one.

Good luck on that engine pull as well man

    Prepare to be dissapointed haha.

Registered bruiser and used him to haul the roommates and my bike to the local shop. I need a tune up on my road bike. Everything is running good though.

Weather took a turn for the worse today but it looks like its going to be warm and sunny (60) this weekend.

I am ordering a chain for the engine pull. And I think that is about all I need to have as far as tools. Between my assorted collection and whoever is coming, we should have all we need.

I didn't get much done on the truck. Come Thursday I am pretty much home free as far as school goes until the end of spring break. I'll be working on prep and and starting the basic tear down that day. I am planning on people arriving on Saturday so hopefully by time they come the basic work is done.

Update on the cruiser. What I thought and was told is an axle leak might actually be brake fluid. I never smelt brake fluid before but it doesn't smell like gear fluid. The brakes were soft last night so I got under this morning and I am pretty sure the brake line is the culprit. Didn't have time to check the fluid but ill do it this afternoon.

Hoping it is because changing brake lines and bleeding it out is a hell of a lot cheaper and easier than an axle rebuild.

Hmm, talked with a kid in class today and he is suggesting just pulling the head. Pulling the whole engine is way more work and timing/headgasket is pretty easy to do.

Thoughts? It would save me some money and several guys a trip. Pretty confident I could do this alone.

Sweet, Ill text you later. I would still like help if I have to pull the head but I think it's less likely I will run into a problem. At least for tear down. I might benefit from some knowledge on install

Very tempted to order a rebuilt cylinder head and do the full swap in one day while I have help. Might be able to have a running truck by sunday.

I'm planning on making the trip down that way probably late this week depending on how things pan out. I may end up taking my old job back down in Colorado so I will probably be down there to lend a hand if needed this weekend.

   .

Anyone know how feasible it would be to have a cylinder head pulled and reinstalled in a day with some helpful people? Tagging people that may have a clue.

Better to ask what I have not done.
Depends on who you find. You're taking your whole engine apart. @thefatkid @lotsoftoys your opinions?

My dad said he'd assume it's about a day long project with the right tools and some know-how. I've never done it personally but he's always tinkering with his old Ferds.

It seems like a lot but I think it could be done. But nevermind, looked up the only company I could find that does head exchanges and the reviews are either superb or shitty. The engine party will probably just consist of pulling the head and drinking beer. Lots of beer.
