I think the airflow is supposed to flow better but for your motor probably doesn't make a difference

Told to come in at 3 to see it running :woot:. He doesn't want the truck to leave the shop without a the CAI in place. Everything is supposed to come in tomorrow so ill take that over to him and get it installed real quick.

Let him run it around town for a day or two, then I can pay and drive on home.

Stopped in at 3 and it was put together minus the air box. He is going to hook up the stock one to run it for now. Waiting on a text with the price and ill head over to pay/look at the finished job.

He's going to leave it at his shop until the cai comes in. Then ill head over and we can get it put on pretty quick. Things are looking up!

Good to hear, I too hope that it's not a bigger ticket than you were hoping for. Sounds like hes been a great mechanic to deal with.

The bill was LESS than expected. He quoted me 3.5-4k. The total came to $2800.

Still a lot but when we put it into perspective with the used engine with 60k on it at $2600 shipped to my door...I am very happy with the outcome. It runs great but we are waiting on the air intake before actually driving it.

I'm gonna be checking your thread to see what you end up doing with the intake.. Ill probably look into the cowl snorkel though

I'll keep the post updated. Pretty set on a snorkel just because its proven to work. Much like you, I prefer the stock look, and since you mentioned it, question whether ill hang up on trees or not.

I still have to decide if I want to run the snorkel to a stock intake or not. I am a bit hesitant after looking at my old filter. Dust was on both sides of it.

I can understand that, the trails around here are pretty tight, ill probably pull the fender off this week and get looking at the options for the cowl.

It looks like you can easily route from the stock air box to the cowl through the fender. Or you can easily access it in the engine bay using an aftermarket intake. I would use an aftermarket set up and use the extra space for a second battery in the future.
