I don't think it will need bored out any. I am guessing something went wrong in the head, the truck runs great outside of start up and an odd noise at idle (sounds like the timing chain).

Well, he thought it was the oil pump relief valve. He changed that and the noise was still there. He is ordering a new timing cover since the oil pump is integrated.

What a nightmare this has been.

Pretty dang happy. We get the dogs out at least once a weekend. This Sunday we are going to fish a river on private property that we found out we can access. Then complete a short 6 mile hike.

Yeah, life has been sucking a bit with the truck down but things have been looking up and he's always ready to hang out.

I really don't have a lot to complain about right now.

What Kayaks are you using? I have been looking at them but did not know how dog worthy they would be.

Intex explorer 2. Got it from Amazon for $90 plus shipping. Gotta say I am pretty impressed. I think I will make a cut out floor out of plywood. He doesn't do as well with the unbalanced floor. So when he moves, he tends to get a bit nervous of losing his balance. The small piece of wood should make it nice and stable for him to turn around and such.

It handles his claws fine though and our total weight (270ish) hitting rocks on bottom when coming to shore. My girlfriend has a Weinerdog and she does far better walking around in it because of her light weight.

Great it was my dogs nails I am concerned about. I have an index raft and keep her nails short I like the idea of the kayak though.

I know this is old news but if Ash is still pulling get a sensation harness. I e been training dogs for ever it seems and I recommend them to everyone I have worked with. Tradition harness and collars encourage pulling. Just my .02

Hmm, just checked out the engine. It's out of the truck with the valve and timing cover off. Everything looks perfect except for the timing chain. The chain is pretty loose in spots and there is wear on the crank shaft gear where it has a bit of slack. I am going to order a new front and rear chain tensioner and he is going to replace the valve cover/oil pump. Hopefully this is the final obstacle...

Holy crap! Well look at the bright side, at least you're not racking up a bunch of miles on your truck this year. :D Sorry, just seeing the positives!

Dude, thanks 10000x. I ordered one after he about pulled my arm off the other day. He isn't bad when walking alone but when the gf and her dog walk with us, it's a struggle. I put it on today and decided to skip the short training tips. He picked it up right away and stayed next to me the whole walk. It only took a light tug when he stopped to smell something too. Can't wait to try it out when the gf and her dog are around.

In truck related news. I have a snorkel sitting on the shelf collecting dust and I dropped off the chain tensioners yesterday afternoon. I haven't been given an update but I would guess I will have the truck by friday. If nothing changes I am going to have to suck it up. The gf's nissan is having brake issues. I told her she can get them fixed (or I might do it) and while it's down she can use the cruiser.

Also, we are 1 month away from elk season :woot:

But, if the fire down here ruins the hunting, I might be back up in 37 again. I have Monday and Fridays off this semester.

Not yet. Maybe next week. If its not fixed this time, we aren't sure what else to do. Probably just run it till it dies and start over.

We found out today that my girlfriends manuscript is going to be published in the Journal of Zoology. So despite the truck, we have been doing great and still managing to get out. If the weather holds, we aee going for a hike today, then coming back for some ribs I put on the smoker an hour ago. They are going to be great.
