Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
Ya i realize i am not going to be able to get a quality sound bar for 200. My issue is that it is a gift and i wouldnt be able to spend to much on it. I have started doing a little research on them and so far it seems that at around $250 there is a few options with wireless subwoofers. If it was my setup i would be willing to spend alot more, but it is for my mother, she has always been a big music fan but not enough to spend alot of money on a nice system, so she might be really happy with the sound from a lower end sound bar. I like the "home theater in a box" type system, i have heard a few and i was pretty impressed considering the price. I guess i really need to go listen to some stuff at best buy before i decide which way i wanna go. I was just looking for the consensus on sound bars from some true audiophiles.

Thanks for the input i appreciate it

This seems like a good place to post some pix from the RMAF. I didn't have time to take a ton of pictures but here are a few.

I heart McIntosh. A friend of mine has Hertz Mille 3-way active, JL10W6, JL HD amp for the sub and McIntosh amps for the mids, all run through a Bit Ten in a Chevy Silverado. Absolutely beautiful sound system. I tell him to put in competition's but he say's it isn't quite ready yet.

I wanted to go but the rooms were pricey and the line array's weren't done yet. I'm hoping to attend next year. We have something in Dallas called the Lone Star Audio Fest. Same type of deal but it's free for attendees and only the price of booking a hotel room for exhibitors.

PS: What is going on in that last picture below? That room looks like an acoustic nightmare.

This sound room isn't my cup of tea either but it is a purpose build audio room used for evaluating equipment. I don't have any detailed info but it's clearly not meant for domestic use... It sounded very good.

whats the mounting depth maximums? What woofer are you planning on running? seems like it'd get some real nice lowend extension.

Is there anyway to make this a pair of 10's?

Interesting. Details on the room? It looks like hard walls with carpet only in the center and wood floors everywhere else. I didn't see any acoustic tiles on the walls or anything soft to break up the reflections.

It's designed for an Alpine SWRT-10. Tuning at 23hz puts the overall preformance very flat and drops at 15hz so it should play as low as I'd ever want it to get. I screwed up putting the hole so high up I'm hoping I can resurrect the box by sanding down some of the wood on the back if not I'll have to rebuild it.

This particular graph show's it at 24hz but it isn't much further off from the 23hz it's at.

There isn't much need for acoustic tiles in this room due to the sheer number of tube traps and the fact that the walls and ceiling are not parallel. These traps are designed to both absorb and refract. There are a lot more acoustic treatments that are difficult or impossible to see in the photo. This room sounded good because it had an excellent balance of acoustical properties.

Ooooo interesting. Yeah from the picture it looks like a giant rectangular room. I wouldn't have guessed the walls and ceiling weren't parallel. That's PERFECT. Who makes those tube traps? I've not seen those before. In the dark picture I honestly thought they were additional speakers and was thinking, "Holy shit that room must sound terrible with that many sources!"

He did say that but I think it required too much space so he went ported. Not sure though. I'm not sure what the SPL difference is but it shouldn't be outrageous in normal listening.

I'll be building a T-Line soon, getting the wood now, the first box posted earlier didn't work because I cut the hole to high but sold it for a Franklin.
