    Thanks!

Aside from my headlight upgrades and phone mount, AWD is one of the most used mods. It has been used many times on the mountain pass roads/highways around here (Colorado) in the winter. In fact, I used it yesterday to commute to work since we got about 4” in the Denver area. I just set it and forget it. It’s nice on the easier trails too, you don’t get binding on the tight turns.

This is brilliant! Silly question, but do you notice any difference in MPGs for AWD vs 4x4 in these road conditions? I used to turn 4x4 off in the exact conditions you described and shift back into 4H when the road was in the shade or I could just "tell" to seemingly save a lil bit of gas. Stupid in hindsight — should just have kept 4H to be safe.

No, I haven’t noticed. But I wasn’t looking for it either. My intuition is the difference in MPGs between AWD and 4WD on road is negligible. No data to back that up.

Between 4WD/AWD and 2WD is likely significant, but not crazy. Probably 1-2MPGs decrease when engaged. I think some other folks on the forum who track MPGs with apps could give you a better answer.
