I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I'm thinking this is in the spring or early summer judging by the plant life. The end of the trail is right after the river so if it's to high we just don't cross it and BBQ along the river.

I am going to be camping up there for the night. I'll probably see you guys at the end of the trailhead then! I'd like to leave earlier but work won't allow.

I'm hoping there are some creek crossings to make things interesting. Otherwise it seems like a fire road.

I know that's what i was thinking as well. There is a bunch of other side trails we can hit that have some steep climbs.

    DO NOT CROSS THE RIVER!!!!!!!

BLM has made it illegal to cross the east carson river on the Barney Riley trail.

You will need to make a right at the Y about a mile before the river. And go around and stay to the left at the next Y. This adds about 2 hrs to the trip.

IMHO it is stupid to do BR in a day. You need to camp at the river to enjoy the trail. It a easy but long trail. If your mobbing it hard you can do it in under 2hrs. I did it in 1.5 hrs with two trucks hauling ass, and no stops.

Be careful not to get lost before you get to the trailhead!

Thanks for the info KRT. Do you know if highway 4 is closed right now? I was wondering if you could get to Deer Valley from that side right now.
