Few issues, SS brake lines are short

There will be and interference with the brake line and the gussets on the spindle

So, the length of the line is weird - how long is the line you got? Should be about 15.5" if I recall.

The spindle gusset...yeah, I don't have those, so haven't accounted for them. Likely you'll need to mod the bracket to make that work.

Yeah those are the stop techs which are to work with the the kits and they measure to roughly 10.5”. It’s all Gouda just currently deciding how to move forward. As I’m in the middle of the install, tried drill out one banjo bolt not feeling comfortable with the result. So I’m guna see if I can find some lines and modify the bracket

Alright so ran into a few issues during the tundra install. Brakes lines were short, then I went to plan B(drill out banjo bolt) And use existing lines.

Upon drilling the bit sheared off and got lodged in the banjo bolt. After removing the broken end of the bit I tried to opening up the ID to a nice counter sink and didn’t like the result. Contacted the dealerships in the area and no banjo bolt was instock. So hard line it is, which is good be cause that was the original plan. Checked with local auto stores to see what I could do, 3rd gen 4runner use hard lines but the brakes lines are short. Looked in to tundras and they are short as well approx 10”. Tried a few other options but they failed.

So I did some research and purchased LCE 3” extended lines. So currently:

Everything is installed minus the brakes lines to the hardlines to the caliper. I removed the stock lines and placed vacuum caps on the hardlines coming from the master cylinder on the drivers and passengers side.

    CDF2DBD8-802D-41B0-8AB7-92D36DB0B851.jpg

As @turbodb mention modification to the bracket will be required. With everything installed including the hard lines from the caliper. I was able the find the height needed by drilling out a hole between the two original holes. Now I just need to add a spacer to comp for the gusset in the horizontal direction and I should be gouda. I’ll be using the bar stock below. Basically stack (if needed) and weld it to the bracket.

Found the spacing required just need to weld everything together and repeat for the driverside. There’s minor stress on the hard line nothing out of the ordinary. Basically the hard brake line is just rotated up from its original position and the soft line with pick up the slack. Just waiting on the extended brake lines and I’m set. 576D88AD-ECF4-466A-B012-80183B90FE29.jpg

Brake lines came in & modified the brackets to fit. So I was able finished up the tundra brake upgrade and knocked out the LBJ’s.

Test drive was amazing so much stopping power. For sure a must, with the added weight of the armor.

ive been going to Alan...seems like a good selection and I like wondering around there.

I haven’t been to the other two.

I got the tube for my camper at Campbell metal supplies because they delivered to summit road for $20.

I like the lines on C4’s 3rd gens bumper. I feel a similar design will compliment the shape of the 98-00 grill.

Finished up all the fab projects in my queue that are non truck related. Now, with everything out of the way the front bumper is up next!!! But first... I got bored and it was too late to be doing metal work, so I closed the garage and turned to plastic.

So the center of the grill was cracked from the accident, what a great excuse for a satoshi.

Ended up ordering an emblem that’s a little more retro looking and will be painting black with the rest of the grill.

I’ve done some fab work in nicer shoes haha

Starting the bumper this weekend. Gotta cut everything down to the frame mounts and do some CAD (cardboard designing of course)

I’m really excited to see how this comes out. I’ve been planning on building a C4 knock off for awhile now if I ever get around to it.
