Wow what are the chances, same 4runner is at the junkyard and had power seats!

Was able to get all the missing/broken clips, covers, switch controllers and a tail light.

Wife went to town and swapped everything in and removed one running board. (Looks a lot better with out the running board) oh and the other running board is tacked on WTF hahah:sawzall:

Going back for some more goodies tomorrow.

Need the aal! I feel comfortable with the camping gear but I’ll be beefing up the rear bumper and adding some more weight so we’ll see.

Not guna lie I have thought of alcan custom springs.

is the AAL just the heavy duty dakars? Ive been emailing Alcan and I just realized Deaver is pretty close to me too so if I can't find some used Dakars for a good price I may have to go that route

aal = add a leaf, so heavy duty Dakar + one leaf to help increase spring rate/loading.

Deaver’s also do well and with Alcans you can customize.

it’s all about finding what’s right for your needs.

So pushing off the bump stops for a later date, but still productive this weekend.

Installed the 6 switch relay setup and added a circuit breaker near the battery. Hooked up a set of Piaa’s and tested them and everything worked gouda. Just need to figure out where to mount everything. As you can tell I was originally looking at getting the carling switches, might end up swapping them in we’ll see. And the 4Runner tires are on and fixed the leaky sunroof.

    So saw this recently.C721036A-4E00-4ED7-B073-64440B756C96.jpg

I like the concept as I am running a low pro rack and i don’t want to run the standard awning but still want shade.

But like usual, wanted to do something a little different.

Thanks, I’ll have to keep an eye out for one, is it too long to fit crosswise in the bed?

Yacht skipper I worked for down there in Queenstown about 15 yrs ago told me that Dettol and baby oil was a good treatment for the bites, but they definitely get your attention. Almost as bad as the gnats and no-see-ums up north, at least with the mozzies you can see them...

Here it is the new awning tarp system concept
still need to finish cutting the scrap into a triangle. Cutting the corner off the old u bolt and using it as the bedrack mounting point.

also moving to a new driveway losing the garage....and getting a basement. Spotted a new neighbor with a built 1st gen too

Been chasing bogged down acceleration on the 4runner. Typical scenario:

come to stop at a stop sign, skinny pedal then 2000-2500 RPM then stumble, with no acceleration Traveling at constant velocity approx 15-20mph, push little harder on the gas pedal and nothing But a slight increase in RPM but get a backfire. Eventually it just goes away. No real pattern other than it occurs from the stopped position to acceleration.

    Happens periodically.

So far cleaned the throttle body changed all the associated gaskets and checked the tps mechanism. Cleaned MAF. Adjusted accelerator cable. No crazy corrosion around the o2 sensors and wires looks new.

With no CEL it could be a few things plan was to do plugs, wires and coils. Parts were on order.

But today my wife almost got stranded after the 4runner couldn’t accelerate and shut down, still not F’in code. A simple, turning the 4runner off and turn back on got her to a friends house(the desitation). I got the call and said fuck it. Canceled the online order, Got my tools together, Rosie puppy and picked up NGK plugs, wires, coils packs.

After I got to the 4runner, drove it around for 30mins had my scanner in hand, it bogged down! Waiting.... waiting.... still no F’in code after 10 minutes, no code and then magically I can hear the proper idle ahah.

Pissed I park the runner near the truck and get to work.

    B80BDB64-8D5E-4837-AE7D-03F4D668EA6E.jpg

The spark plugs have seen better days.

With the maintenance done, the test drive was great! But question is does it solve the problem??

Nope, about an hour later took the 4runner for another test drive and it bogged down. But Finally got P0172 and

    P1130 TOYOTA - Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 1.

I’ve already checked for vacuum leaks, clean MAF and all general intake issues. So huh must be the upstream o2. Another trip to the auto store and new o2 senser with a hefty price tag.

Before removal, I spray the two nuts and wait. It’s a little cramped but I was able to get an extended socket on it and whhhhhatt, the nuts were on hand tight ahahha. Old sensor had some build up and slight corrosion on the gasket. With new sensor in a a few test drives under our belt, things look great and we’re ready for the 45 min drive home. So far so good, the 4runner got some needed maintenance and is overall running better.
