Yeah. it's gone. it's weird not seeing it in the driveway, it's kinda been the plan in recent months. With the new addition to the family(A baby boy) were guna need a little more room. We could have made it work with the extended cab but the days would be numbered. So I decided to make the move sooner than later.

The decision wasn't made lightly. I've searched for double cabs to swap parts but we all know the double cabs 4x4's come with a premium price.

So in the current state, I got the 4runner and the wife has the GX (and I like what it has to offer, minus that fact they don't come factory with a rear locker)

    Tacoma's Fairwell Trip

Going back to where it all started, this time wanted to get a view from the other sides of the plains.

    IMG_8919.jpg

Few years back we explored the ridgeline of the small range in the distance, happened to be at the perfect time and turn out to be one of my favorite photos of the truck:

    carrizo.jpg

This day there were no flowers or sunshine, but fun rock formations to explore.

    IMG_8974.jpg

Once the sunset we didn't last long huddled around the fire and called it an early night and awoke to the sunrise on the plains.

After some Coffee and a Quick breakfast we broke camp and headed to a warmer climate.

    IMG_9010.jpg

After we drove around the area a bit and took in the sights, eventually set up camp and found an old machete in the fire pit.

Tyler (4Runner) and I made sure to find the highest tofa and found our way to the top.

Loving the warmer weather we stayed for 2 days, enjoyed the scenery and night sky while getting a little competitive with slingshots and bocci ball.

Then made our way back home and snapped a few photos beforehand.

Ahhh fatherhood. It is now about your son. Hard decision to get rid of your truck, but it is pretty obvious you'll be a good dad already. Looking forward to your next build.

Fatherhood is really rewarding man, but doing the right thing is usually the hardest thing to do.

I’m excited for the life change and new build.

I remember my wife, I and Rosie were on the trail to Bodie and pulled up behind a built 80 series LC that had been driving a little slow, turns out a small kid was in the lap of the driver steering the truck. I just look at my wife and said, I wana do that.

sure its not and 80 series but a gx 470 would do ahhaha

I remember being at Usal and seeing a dad whipping around the sand, and when they got closer his kid was on his lap driving. I thought one day. My kids are five now, one boy and one girl (twins, one ma), and pretty soon they'll be driving on my lap. I just lucked out and got the double cab right before my wife got pregnant.

The running board/side steps come with two courtesy lights on each side.

Which will make decent rock lights, I’m not huge on lighting but no extra $$ I’m game.

I will say this though, after removing the running boards and wiring harness, I have never broken so many goddam plastic clips in my life. Hopefully this isn’t a glimpse at the future.

Been struggling the past few weeks trying to decide what to build next... the GX or 4runner and after some consideration I choose

keeping it here, just been working too much to be able to get any work done on the 4runner. To be honest I like the TW platform over the others ie h8mud, expedition portal & T4r. Those are good resources but ain’t like TW.

Trust me I know about the whole working schedule; pre COVID I was at 12-13hr days.

Post COVID I'm still at 10+hr days.

Then my off time is spent going out of town to be with my fiancée leaving little time off to do much else.

Build thread I meant on TW; my 4Runner has a build thread on TW as well. Other sites suck.
